happauge colossus recordings

Alright so after having so many issues with the happauge hd pvr external usb thing, i went and purchased an internal happauge colossus. i was able to get it up and running pretty quickly, (maybe i should install the showbiz software i am just using the settings from the hdpvr). whats weird is yesterday i tried recording a few shows and it was pretty problamatic, one recording only recorded about 22mbs of film not sure why, but everything through the night and into the morning recorded just fine.... i looked at the logs and personally see nothing. let me know if anyone has any hints and pointers and then i will try to do a few more recordings and see if i can recreate the odd problems.

You'd probably need to post the logs and the name/time of the show that failed to record, so we can see if there is any errors.

so again, i had all the problems with the hauppauge hd pvr so i went and got the colossus. the shows that had issues were spartacus and game of thrones. i had to stop and start spartacus god knows how many times to get it working but i have to redo a recording some other time.

game of thrones started, and when i checked when it was complete it was only 4 minutes or so long with about 22 megs of data.

so i don't get whats going on, i am sure this new card is fine as it recorded many shows after with no problems.

I also just installed showbiz and changed the renderers.... not sure what else i can do to figure this out.

yea that was me restarting the recording here it is again after i started it back up

According to that log, it recorded from 23:26:54 - 00:40:00, without any errors between these points. As long as the device continued to deliver data during those times, then the recording should be complete.

I know there was not any errors, but the recording itself is 22MB in size.... anyways i changed some settings and i'll see if things get fixed this time around

Looking at the logs there are two lines that stand out

Does your STB go to sleep after inactivity turning off the output port?

not that i know of anywhere i could check such a setting? the weird thing is again recordings work all day long, and then i go to record trueblood this evening at 11:10pm, and then all of a sudden it has issues all over again..... this is just nutty

and yes now looking at the logs everytime the recording is not working i see this line

after checking the logs I do see each time I tried to record true blood I had this line

and if I restart my pc it starts to record fine... I assume a npvr stop/start would prob get things going too

whats still odd is that recordings will work all day long but then come to the recordings in the evening they all fail
