So I know this has been asked a few times as I have been scouring the forums for a few hours now, but I can't seem to get my channels into NextPVR. It is only showing I have 27 channels, when in fact there are 100+.

My setup:
Windows 8
Firewall exceptions have been added (even tried turning it off).
Homerun Prime -> Tried using Next PVR or Other ASTC/QAM as main application
Prime finds my channels fine.

I have attached my log. I have tried re-installing both HD software + NPVR and still nothing.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Zeb

I might suspect that the missing channels are analog, except the HDHomerun Prime has no analog tuner and you say it finds your channels fine. It therefore seems likely that the missing channels are flagged as copy-once or copy-never by your provider. Only Windows Media Center can record copy-once channels. BTW the DirectX end-user runtimes are not present on your system, but that isn't why channels are missing.

I am using a cablecard so I should be able to still get the channels if there were copy-once correct?

Also, yeah I noticed that about directx, I fixed that already, but thanks for pointing that out.

How many stations does it present to you in a browser?

You can get copy-once channels with Windows Media Center or directly to your TV, but not with NextPVR or other applications if I understand correctly. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ime-w-NPVR

I attached the XML. I think it's giving me around 29 channels.

That puts a different light on the problem. Any additional channels must be analog cable channels. I'm afraid you're going to need an analog tuner (preferably a dual one). NextPVR is basically a digital program, but analog support can be added as discussed in the Wiki: http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...geSoftPVR?

[Edit] If your cable provider has announced plans to go all-digital, you might just want to be patient for the time being.

The other option is this one

I guess there is a possibility that you can find out if your cableco is marking some of your non-premium subscribed channels copy once incorrectly in accordance with their own policies.

I would seriously doubt that (many of) the additional channels would be analog. MUCH more likely is that the cable company has them flagged as copy-once which means that NextPVR (and other 3rd party software) won't be able to use them. I'm guessing that the 27-29 channels you're getting are the OTA available channels in your area and that you cable company is flagging them as copy-freely, but that any "cable" channels are copy-once.

I don't recall seeing who your cable company is. So far, Comcast seems to have been pretty good about only flagging premium channels (i.e. HBO, Showtime, etc.) as copy-once and leaving the OTAs and other "non-premium" cable channels copy-freely. They did have a policy that this scheme should be used everywhere with Comcast, but sometimes when they had channels flagged incorrectly, a subscriber had to escalate the problem to get it fixed. On the other hand, several Time Warner customers have reported that TW is flagging everything (including OTA channels) as copy-once--thus the CableCard tuner is useless for them with NextPVR.

Yeah, I had no reason to flip-flop on the analog possibility except the cat woke me up too early. I thought about asking who the provider was, but there's nothing we can do about their flagging policies even if we happen to know what they are. I should have specified "Windows 7 Media Center" (which I understand is essentially unchanged for Win8). I know from my own experience that Vista MC is useless for digital channels, which is why I switched to NPVR. I presume that XP MC was no better. I'm also pretty sure that an HDHR cannot be connected "directly to your TV," although providers will gladly rent you equipment that can be - including DVRs that can record copy-once channels.
