Recordings on my Colossus - which is set to record from an HDMI feed with HDMI audio - all run at something like double speed, both when played in NPVR and also by VLC. Is this some decoder or codec problem? A possibly related problem is that there is no audio whne played through NPVR, although when played through XMBC or VLC the audio is there. Everything works fine with NOvA-DB DT tuners.

Looks like everyone who has viewed your post thus far is as baffled as I was. I did find a similar thread, albeit involving Hauppauge HDPVR in the US rather than Colossus in the UK:

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...uble-speed

Although your Colossus is connected to box via HDMI, it appears that audio is being treated as SPDIF:

Code:
2013-05-02 23:42:09.909    [DEBUG][10]    setting Colossus audio routing...
2013-05-02 23:42:09.910    [DEBUG][10]    using 'Audio SPDIFDigital In' (HDMI)

I suppose this could explain why there is no sound on the NPVR machine, but can't see that this would cause double speed on video and sound. Another odd thing - the sound at double speed is not squeaky - ie not raised in pitch like it would be on an analogue recording played too fast - the recordings somehow just seems to have lost every other bit or or frame or something on it and when it plays the reduced number of bits/frames etc at normal speed they go too fast

Too fast problem solved. Something to do with the HDMI source. Went away when I changed the source

Still no sound on NPVR machine though. If I play the Colossus recordings through VLC on the same machine the sound is fine, but when played through NPVR, no sound. And sound fine too when played through the Popcorn hour NMTs and also the XBMC NPVR add-on.

Still need help, though this is irritating rather than fatal

That's got to be caused by the decoder you're using then. Probably the AAC decoder, but maybe the AC3.

While tuned to a "silent" channel in NPVR, you can right-click and move mouse pointer to Audio Stream, where "Track 1 [format]" will tell you what type of decoder is needed.
