What OS? If Win 7, did you change to the legacy OHCI firewire driver? What does Device Manager say about the firewire?
Try this: disconnect cable, reboot PC, unplug STB power, connect cable, plug in STB. On my Motorola box, you have to unplug to reboot it.
HTPC: Optiplex 7010, HDHR Prime/Avermedia Duet A188, NPVR 4.2.5, Win10 Pro

I restarted the pc, unplugged the FireWire cable, unplugged my stb, then plugged in the fw cable back in and turned my stb back on. Still nothing.

The problem is the firewire driver. I think I gave you a link to that in a previous thread. Check your threads and see if it is there.
Or, you can save yourself the trouble and just look at this: http://kc.flexradio.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50433.aspx After installing, you still need to reboot the PC and th STB.

I already have the guide open. Y r u referring to that thread. I'm using FireWire now and am not using the ir blaster anymore. I installed the legacy drivers and rebooted the Oc and unplugged the stb then plugged the stb back in. Still nothing
