Trying to get X-NEWA to work for it's additional recording functionality and the ability to watch currently recording programs.

After keying in the settings I get the Error "Unable Load NEWA data" although everything seems fine.

Here is my log which hopefully sheds some light on the matter.

Thanks in advance.

It looks like you have an older version installed make sure you use the version from the wiki linked here http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post442861

Also I think you are manually unzipping the file instead of using install from zip directly in XBMC. I recommend deleting the entire folder 'C:\\Users\\Booza\\AppData\\Roaming\\XBMC\\addons\\X-NEWA-master' and then installing from zip once you have the new file.

Never saw a reply here that indicated this fixed your problem. I've seen at least one other post with the same issue and saw no confirmed fix. Strangely though, I saw no other mentions of problems either. I had the same problem ("unable to load NEWA data"), but for some reason could never get on this forum to post. But decided I would try again today as I have my problem fixed and wanted to share it. I had the problem on my desktop (where I test everything before I load to my HTPC) and on my HTPC. Got the same thing on my Raspberry Pi as well. Couldn't get X-NEWA to work anywhere without the error I mentioned. Fortunately I could use the web interface so at least was able to get stuff done.

One thing that was never clear to me, was if I had to install NEWA. What I have read seems to indicate that NEWA is part of the NextPVR install, so no separate install was required. I am running NextPvr 1.3.1. I'm running that on a Win 8.1 machine and am using XBMC 12.3 Froto.

I tried uninstalling and re-installing NextPvr as well as X-NEWA. I deleted the directories as noted and installed X-NEWA via the zip file install. Same thing. Finally... I download the current version of NEWA (v2.11) and "installed" it per instructions in the NextPVR NEWA doc, and Wa La! it worked.

As I said, never was clear that I needed to install NEWA separately. But that fixed it and I am now enjoying using X-NEWA. Hope this helps some other people. I must admit, it was very frustrating.

I am sure I posted that NEWA updates were required and the reason for this is that X-NEWA uses NEWA Web Services which NEWA itself doesn't use. These services have been evolving and they are being significantly enhanced, more static and speedup for v 3.2, so the next version of X-NEWA should work with the standard NextPVR full update.

Would I be right in thinking that a new version of NEWA and maybe also X-NEWA is required for X-NEWA to work with NPVR 3.2.9?

There is a new version of NEWA with 3.2.9. I will be uploading a new improved X-NEWA today, depending on the version of X-NEWA you have it might work in SOAP mode. UJB made a load of JSON changes and they aren't backwards compatible.

Will XBMC be able to update the addon, automatically or otherwise, or will we need to install it again?

It's going to be automatic just waiting for people to get over the initial concerns of upgrading

I'm getting this error as well with NPVR 3.2.9 and X-NEWA 2.2.9. I looked through the XBMC debug log, and X-NEWA is crashing with an exception due to an unexpected type. Most of the screens still work fine, but in addition to the error message when starting the add on, I also get UNABLE TO CONTACT NEXTPVR SERVER when I try and go to PENDING RECORDINGS (the pending recordings error is not in the debug log).

http://pastebin.com/hA2Cf9hi

BTW, the log is from my OSX test machine, and NPVR is running on my production Windows machine. I have the same problem running X-NEWA on the Windows machine locally, but it was easier to grab a debug log from the OSX machine. Also, I noticed that in the log X-NEWA is reporting as 2.2.7, but it's reporting as 2.2.9 in the XBMC Programs list.

Do you have any pending recordings? If so could you upload your npvr.db3 probably to big to upload here so try dropbox etc or just empty the epg and it should be small enough.
