I have my first HTPC and trying to install NextPVR as a backend to XBMC on Windows 8. Just after the installation process starts I get the error message "Server database not found at :\\hushpc\NPVR\NPVR.db3" The install completes but unable to load TV Channels.
I am all new to this and not computer savvy (hey it took me 2 hours just to register on this site)
I would appreciate assistance here. thank you.

It sounds like you've ticked the 'act as client PC' checkbox on the Settings->Devices screen. You should have this unchecked on your type of setup.

The box in Settings-Devices is unchecked. The error message comes up while the programme is installing - before I can get to the Set up stage. It gives you the option to ingore the problem which when checked allows the remander of the install to continue. When you go into Settings - Devices the device setup, Export Channels, Import Channels buttons are all turned off. Server name shown Hushpc and database share //hushpc/npvr
Any thoughts please.

First answer. The box that says "Act as PC Client" is checked when I open settings - Devices. When unchecked it does not change anything. I have uninstalled & reinstalled NEXTPVR with fresh download each time and the first time I see act "as pc client" is when I go into settings which is to late as error message is coming up during the install. While log fiule (zipped) is a bit above my skill level I did find the following which may help. Also found another error message. "The module "NPVRCCDump.ax" was loaded but the call for DIIRegisterServer failed with error code 0X80070005."

Hi. One of the first things you need to know about NPVR is that it installs a data directory at C:\Users\Public\NPVR, which is where the Logs folder is found. You could send the entire Logs folder to a zipped folder and attach it to a post via "Go Advanced" using the paperclip button. Another thing: When you uninstall NPVR, the data directory is NOT automatically deleted. My theory is that you checked "Act as client PC" when you first installed NPVR, and the setting is still in Config because C:\Users\Public\NPVR was never deleted.

I wouldn't know where to start but thank you for your advices. But after 3 days on this, I think I leave things as they are. I have got Live TV working on WINTV 7 on windows and XBMC doing internet TV and streaming media from NAS & external Hard Drives. Maybe not as convenient as if both where through XBMC but it works . If it is any consolation I couldn't get MediaPortal to work either. Thank you for your advices & sorry to nhave taken up your time on a lost cause.
