Good day,

Newb to nextpvr - great work folks, btw!!

Anyhow the functionality most relevant for my usage is accessing the guide via http (newa) and viewing the various stations in the guide via browser/vlc

We can browse to:
http://192.168.1.100:8866/guide2.aspx

The guide is populated, however, when I left-click on "View Live", the pop-up window looks like:

when i click on the "top" play button, nothing changes.

when I click on the "bottom" play button, the status changes from "Idling" to the URL ->
[ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

(Running VLC v2.0.8 on the local machine and v2.0.8 on server) - tried back-revving to v2.0.3 on both server/client as a result of another post however, same result.

I've tried opening both http://192.168.1.100:8866/streamer/vlc/s...?channel=3 & http://192.168.1.100:8866/live?channel=3 as network streams in VLC with no joy either.

I'm sure I'm missing something simple - would appreciate some help.

The following are my configs:

the following is my web.log

Thanks for responding - I appreciate the help.

I tried the patch... a little different response with the IE window, however still no visual... the top set of control buttons are gone and the controls not responsive - just sits there.. as shown here:

So it no longer shows "Idling..." or the URI...

As follows are the log files... I applied the patch, flushed the old logs, rebooted and these are the fresh logs showing the activity since applying the patch (hitting the newa interface, attempting to "View Live" from the guide and several attempts at the hitting the URL directly through VNC)...

I know you are accessing from an internal based IP.... but for grins can you set the below node in your config.xml file to true and see what happens.

I compared your log to what I get and it seems to be the same except in mine I see NPVR start the stream. View now actually streams from the NPVR application itself....

On your log I do not see the lines for NPVR starting up the stream.

Set the below to true and let me know what happens.

<AllowRemoteStreaming>true</AllowRemoteStreaming>

Thank you again for the assistance.

I had previously set both remote transcode and stream to "true"... think i saw this step in another post when troubleshooting prior to posting.

<AllowRemoteTranscode>true</AllowRemoteTranscode>
<AllowRemoteStreaming>true</AllowRemoteStreaming>

And yes, unfortunately, no change.

Have you tried to view live on the server itself? This will remove the network from the equation.

I should have been clearer... yes, i've simply tried hitting the guide and "View Live" from the box itself (i.e. http://localhost:8866/guide.aspx or guide2.aspx") with no luck.

and to confirm that the n-pvr works, going through "live tv" & the "tv guide" and clicking/viewing channels from the fat client/app works like a champ.

in fact, if I go through the entire process of clicking on the channel and then hitting "stream now", "start stream" and then "launch external player" - it works without a hitch, i'm dealing with an elderly family member, so i really want to apply the KISS principle and ensure "View Live" works...

like you said regarding the logs, it just seems that NEWA isn't triggering/initiating the "streaming process" from npvr when using the "View Live" link to allow the stream to start which to me sounds like permissions, but i have the nrecord service running as "administrator" so that should trump any permissions problem?

as always, the help is sincerely appreciated - thank you.

The view now uses native streaming from NPVR....whereas the stream now uses VLC and is supported via NEWA....what I see in your logs is the call to NPVR to start the stream....but it just doesn't start. I cant' explain it..... sub may need to take a look since this is native to NPVR and I am not familiar with its inner workings in regards to streaming.

Fair enough... is this something you will forward to his attention or should I be engaging him some other way (i.e. PM/eml?)

Thanks again for all your help thus far - again, very much appreciated.

Please advise.

Try again and upload all the logs, you didn't show the file with the actual recording takes place, the goal looks correct.
