This is not necessarily an NPVR issue but maybe someone has an idea that can help me.

My cable company, Comcast, recently encrypted broadcast channels, so I dumped them and installed a regular ATSC antenna (winegard 3000). Which is getting all my local channels quite nicely on my TV and in viewing in NPVR. Now for a couple of my channels I am getting this weird maximum bitrate of 80.0 Mbps on my recordings that is preventing me from streaming my video to my DLNA devices from my media server (Synology).

This seems like a completely invalid bitrate so I don't know if there is some setup in NPVR that might prevent this...??? Or what? I would prefer NOT to have to convert all my recordings to reset the bitrate before I can even watch them, my computer time is pretty full up......

Any ideas?

Thank you!

Could you post a short sample of one of these file. It sounds like your DLNA server is miscalculating.

The maximum bitrate for ATSC is 19.4Mbit/s.

When it comes to digital channels, NextPVR just creates a dump of the bits your broadcaster is sending, so you'll end up with whatever bitrate the broadcaster choose. NextPVR has no control over this, so can't give you a lower bitrate recording.

This is straight from NPVR recording, DNLA server not involved at this point. You can see the max bitrate is over 80 mbps.

But if someone knows if/how to define transcoding for DLNA then maybe that will work. I just don't know much about that as I have not needed it?

Having trouble attaching the file...here is screen print of file properties.

Personally I'd still like to see a sample but for more accurate reading try mediainfo and look at the video bit rate not the generic.

That bitrate info is wrong. It's just some quirk of Windows misreporting it. It's most likely reporting that due to breaks in the broadcasters timeline, which happens a lot with broadcast tv.
