Hi,
Really struggling with this one after lots of searching....
I use 2x USB HD Freeview Tuners... they scan for channels no problem... picking up both SD channels and 4 HD channels available in the area.
The EPG doesn't come over the air, but I get around that with TVXML proggie and the channels then appear in NextPVR no problem.

So far - all good!!!
However, when I come to play an HD channel - black screen and no sound... switch to SD version and it comes on straight away.
I've tried all manner of decoding options in the drop down boxes, nothing seems to work. I've installed PowerDVD and tried those codecs too...

Anyone managed to get the HD channels showing? Please share you ideas!
Cheers,
John

The only audio decoder that I ever had working with Freeview HD is Lav. I use saf ... Search the forum.

yep, I use the unlocked SAF codec pack (important: send a private message to hoberg to get unlocked version). I use cyberlink PDVD decoder for video and LAV audio decoder.

Did you have a picture on the HD channels before, but then they stopped working when you updated to version 3.1.1? It's not like this is your first thread. Are you running Windows 7?

[Edit] Basic information you might lack: DVB-T2 HD channels have H.264 video and HE-AAC audio. (SD channels have MPEG2 video and MPEG1 audio.) PowerDVD should have some version of Cyberlink video decoder, is it selectable for H.264? LAV audio decoder is a free download. Here's a good thread on 290e setup: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...eeview-HD&

I have lost HD video only on upgrade to 3.1.1- everything else is fine. Is there a chance that the patch that went in to stop this before isn't in the new release?

I'm using the MS decoder on MS Win7 64bit BTW.

@DanielP

Did you avoid the February 26 platform update (KB2670838) and Internet Explorer 10 in order to use the MS DTV-DVD decoder with NextPVR version 2.5.9? If so, then my guess is that version 3.1.1 is written with the updated version of the decoder in mind. (The previous version's Patch 2 was to allow use of the updated decoder on 2.6.2, which was released soon after the decoder was updated.) However I suppose there is a small possibility that sub forgot about this issue, since I don't see it mentioned in the change log.

Thanks for all the replies. I am running win7. I was indeed running version prior to 3.1.1 and didn't have a picture then either. I have selected the decoder options mentioned but alas... I see the options mentioned in the relevant drop down boxes, but still no picture.

Something else odd I've noticed,is that since 3.1.1 nextpvr will tell me on a machine restart that it can't find / open device when trying to watch tv... Pulling out USB tuner and plugging back in makes it work?!? Never did that in old version... .?

Hi,

I think I have IE10 on, although I did avoid the platform update at first. I will check.

Ah-ha....it appears that the H264 option decided to set itself to "disabled" when I upgraded. No idea why, but it is sorted now! It's difficult to get to the TV for upgrades nowadays due to wife and kids- have to occupy it in the wee small hours. Both my kids have never seen TV on anything but GBPVR / NPVR ;-)

Thanks.
