So recently I had a hard drive failing where the NPVR recordings were going to. So, I backed up what I could and then adjusted NPVR to record to a different location. I since installed a new hard drive and restored the recordings. However, to my surprise, NPVR no longer has any of the past recordings listed in the Ready Recordings (roughly 50 recordings, including full seasons, are missing in the list) even though I restored the files to the new hard drive.

What happened and how do I get my Ready Recordings back the way it used to be? Does NPVR do an auto "smart" cleanup of files that it can no longer find?

Looks like they might be sitting in the recording-backup xml files, but I am not sure how to get them back. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I am guessing I should use the Import Recording in the Recording tab because I think everything is looking better. And I'm sure there is a RTFM somewhere in there too. Smile

Curious though, when does NPVR update the recordings? Looking at the timestamps of the xml files, it appears they are about the same time as when the EPG gets updated.

Yep you got it
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

That definitely is. Thanks! I think I may just set that feature to false so I'm ready for my next hard drive failure.

It is certainly helpful if recordings are on a network/nas drive. I found no downside to this unless you are deleting recordings with something else and even then it is a minor issue.

This should cancel AutoRemove when the drive or folder are missing ... as when a network device is unavailable.

I must be getting to old to keep up with the tweaks that creep in. I started getting lost when release levels turned into names ;( (not npvr)
