Is there an advantage to install a HD on the PCH NMT for use with NPVR?

By the way through all of my search I have found this to be my best Live TV solution,

Personally I found it better not to have one in there
The hard drive makes noise
It also seemed to slow down the start up to get in next pvr

The popcorn hour is pretty solid as it acts pretty much like a pc (pc clients are still the best experience)
But you can't really buy them any more so once it dies that's it

I use the 5900 the most because the skipping of files is better than te 6500 even though Reven has made it very usable

The 6500 is much nice through the menus

The only issue I have with the bluray players is the time is wrong, (this doesn't affect playback so not a biggy)

I like the fact the bluray players can play blurays/DVDs

Oh and startup is better on Nmt

Sorry I don't really think either is a winner as they All work well

I have an old A110 with a 500 gb hard drive (I don't hear much noise) but it gets very, very hot. I'm surprised my hard drive is still working after about 4 years.
I do have things on the hard drive but I rarely use it anymore. I either use NPVR or a flash drive to watch tv and videos.
I wish they still made these....it's a workhorse.

If I was buying I would probably still buy the 6500
I'm not sure the bdf5900 has the smart hub( I haven't checked )

I am still hoping a firmware upgrade at some point will make the 6500 skip the files better (although Samsung have said there is nothing wrong with it so not holding my breath on that )

After reading any Samsung with smart hub and Samsung apps should work. Is that correct?

Regarding the original question, memory mgt is a bit better with a hard disk because it uses a linux swap file. It's also better for WOL but you could do that with a usb load too.

There are a lot of other services running by default wit the hdd though that might be unnecessary and they steal a few cpu cycles.
