I've bumped into an inconvenient interface issue that should be easily solvable...

When I scanned for channels in the Devices page, I got a nice list of channels and accompanying details that specify the frequency and SID.

But when I go to the Channels page, the channel detail from the scan is gone.

Unfortunately when I am trying to match my channels to the channels from Schedules Direct, many of the names don't match. But SD tells me the frequency -- which I can no longer see on the Channels page. So I end up leaving the page and going back to the Devices page to look at the details of the channel so that I can then return to the Channels page and correctly match the channel to Schedules Direct. This is quit onerous and time consuming.

It would be so much easier if the Channel detail picked up from the device scan was also reported on the Channels page/list and particularly within the Channel Details page. It would save lots of hopping around - and why not display all the information available about a channel?

Thanks for listening!

agreed, this would be helpful. More than once I've had to go back to the physical channel detail in the Devices page to get details to help me map a channel, then go back to the Channels page to do the actual mapping.

I'm not sure how well this will work here in Ottawa (same city as the OP) unless sub also makes changes to detect zero bytes from one stream. We have two problem channels CHCH and CIII which show up with the same channel name but sometimes the SID changes when fiber is down etc and it needs to change to the other.

Jeepers, not only do we share the same city, we share the same name as well!

Sounds like an interesting problem I will be bumping into in the future. I'm not sure what all that means, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it...

The Settings->Channels screen doesn't show this info, because a single channel can be mapped to multiple sourced, including entirely different types of devices, with different types of tuning information. For example, you might have WABC-DT, which you're receiving via ATSC and HDPVR from a cable box.

You can only see the device specific tuning information associated with each channel within the device settings.

How about being able to press a key in the Channels screen to get a popup with the details (i.e. list of tuners and tuning information) associated with that channel?

Perhaps not a key, but a button like "Tuning Info" that would pop up a simple read-only list of tuners and tuning strings. This would help with the other problem I encounter at times, not knowing exactly which tuners a given merged channel is available on.

How many devices can someone really have on their server? ... Even if a channel is mapped to six devices, I think there is plenty of blank space on the page to have a small list of the devices it is mapped to and the accompanying channel detail for that device. It might be very helpful for tracing things back to the source, etc.

For the next release I've added some channel tuning info on the channel details popup.
