Channel Scan crashes

Hi, after a problem yesterday I did a clean install of 3.1.1 + 3a patches.

Sadly, now when I scan for channels it crashes randomly during the process, sometimes immeadiately and sometimes when it would appear almost to be near the end but usually after a few seconds.

When I say it crashes - the nPVR UI terminates - nothing in system application/system event logs.

Two tuner cards behave the same - with only one fitted or with both.

Tearing my hair out (what little remains).

I am running under XP+SP3+updates
The cards are Haupage
I am scanning using the "FREESAT ONLY" satelite setting

XP+SP3+updates with scan crashes are common. http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/thread...s-xp.6344/ Some people need on set of files for recording and newer files for scanning.

Well it must be said that patch certainly fixes the crashes!

However, it now only finds a *TINY* fraction of the channels on Freesat!!!!

Is there an uninstall feature for this patch??

Just unregister the old versions and re-register the new ones.

Win 7 or 8 if you can't live with the dll issue with Aliex's suggestion to turn it on an off

What version of Windows 7 ???

1. Win 7 Home Premium ??
or
2. Win 7 Professional ??

I'd hate to buy a copy and then find it doesn't solve the problem :-(

This is a known XP problem and is the reason I have Vista on my server. Without the patch with two tuners recording then NextPVR/XP will crash. Installing the patch cures the recording crash but causes partial channel scan. I seem to remember that the patch included a batch file to register the replacement files so my temporary fix was to modify the batch file to produce one that registered the original files to allow a channel scan then afterwards I would reapply the patch. In the end I found an unused Vista license which solved the problem.

@jcjefferies: My understanding is that dvbfix is only needed when using two or more tuners, is that correct?

@softfoot: Like jcjefferies I'm running Vista, but I'm pretty sure there is no "wrong" version of Windows 7.

I run two XP machines with dvbfix applied and I can record on two or more tuners simultaneously on both machines.

On the few occasions I need to rescan, I simply back out dvbfix using the batch file I posted earlier in this thread, do the scan and then reapply dvbfix.

Of course, I usually forget to back out dvbfix until the scan fails, then I remember,,,
