If my local OTA EPG is not satisfactory, does that mean any attempt to us mc2xml will also suffer?

No. I used to have OTA with mc2xml, but have transitioned to basic cable. I still use the mc2xml OTA data for the EPG, since it's basically the same as the cable data from mc2xml. Why don't you just try it?

So it is apparent that I have no clue about EPG? I thought xml was added to the EPG data that stations send out so if EPG from them was poor then so was xml

No this data is used by Rogers and WMC as a commercial data source Go to the zap2it.com tv listings and you will see the data you will see.

Here's my updateepg.bat file. It's located in C:\users\public\npvr\scripts. All depends where your EPG folder is. Yours should work if the EPG folder location is correct.

C:
cd C:\Users\Public\NPVR\EPG
mc2xml
