Sub had implemented the option before I mentioned it ... why am I not surprised!

It's now http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...n.Advanced

I have been experiencing the same issues as the initial poster (old PC, takes ages to wake up even when I tap the spacebar) and get the dreaded "these recordings were marked as "Recording Service not running at recording time" message.

I had turned off sleep mode but thought I'd try this again, with a 180 setting vs the 90 default? Has anyone experimented with this succesfully?

Can someone confirm these are working?
Code:
[B]ScheduleWakeups*[/B]

TBC: If true, NextPVR will request Windows to wake from sleep or hibernate power states in order to record scheduled EPG events.

Default value (boolean): true

[B]WakeupPreRecordingSeconds*[/B]

The number of seconds that the system would wake before a recording happens.

Default value (integer, time in seconds): [B]90 [/B]

the settings work, but there's still no fix for the scenario where the inactivity timer expires between the wakeup time and the recording time. The system will sleep and the recordings will be missed.

I'd set <WakeupPreRecodingSeconds> to 0 and use at least 1 minute of pre-padding. This way it will wake and then immediately start recording as soon as NRecord comes to it's senses.

hmmm. I think you're correct but I am not sure what to check to see what happened. My trial didn't work. I already have pre-padding at 1min by default.

Windows App and Sys logs spanning event which was scheduled for 11:55 if I recall correctly.

What does this "No C:\Users\Public\NPVR\Scripts\Wakeup.bat" mean exactly? It seems to try but fails and marks not working?

Code:

Does it mean if make a wakeup batch file (how?) it might work?

It's not a problem. It's just saying you haven't created a custom wakeup.bat. A normal install wouldn't have this. It's just something the user can create if they want to do something special.

Ok thanks - will creating one help wake the recording service ? If so what should I put in it?

No. It's already awake by the time this runs.

Thanks sub. So essentially there is no solution for slow / older PCs to force wakeups or allow enough time to actually wake up?
If not, it's back to always on for me. Was hoping there was a brute force solution (a BFH).

I have an HP Microserver which can only Hibernate which takes longer to complete than Sleep so will be more prone to the problem. Others leave the server permanently on but I have not seen the problem time gap between the finish of the first recording time and the start of the next for over 18 months now. As I said earlier in the thread I was going to ask my son to write a script to run at the end of a recording to examine the database to find if a recording was due to start in the next 10 minutes and if so prevent the computer going into sleep/hibernation but never bothered as its such a rare problem.

The System plugin does display the time until the next recording but I doubt that value is accessible to other software. Perhaps we could persuade Sub to add "Minutes to next recording" function to Nscripthelper or add a "Don't Sleep if next recording starts in less than X minutes" option to NextPVR.

This is still bugging me, so I had a couple of wild ideas - would either of these run from Wakeup.bat help force the computer to wake up long enough to start the recording?

A) A wee batch file that sits around and twiddles its thumbs occasionally prodding the PC to wake up?

Code:
echo off
echo %date% %time%
devcon status "USB\VID_2040&PID_5020&REV_0000"
:Reports the source of the wakeup
powercfg -lastwake

echo on
echo: Wake Up you silly silly thing!
dir D:\GBPVRVids
TIMEOUT 10
echo: Are you awake yet?
TIMEOUT 10
echo: Are you finally awake now?

Or

B) Essentially using the scheduled recording to wakeup and run wakeup.bat and use the batch file to restart the recording service?

Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NPVRServiceControl.exe"
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NPVRServiceControl.exe" start

[WAF hinges on the Server (in the bedroom) sleeping but WAF also hinges on it waking up and not missing recordings. Yep I am desperate. Replacement Wife not an option at this time]
