Hi,

I've just set up a DVB-S2 card for receiving Freesat transmissions. NextPVR has picked up the channels and I can view them fine, but the EPG update doesn't seem to be working.

I've installed the update as per patch 10 here - http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...arted-Info - and set all my channels to EPG type 'Freesat'. Clicking the Update EPG button causes an 'updating' window to flash briefly on the screen, but it doesn't seem to have fetched the EPG. (I have current & next program showing for the current channel, but nothing further into the future than that.)

Log file is attached - let me know if any more information is needed?

Thanks!

It fails to start the device.

Does the device ever work? ie, can you watch live tv?

Hm, I was going to say yes, because it was working, but actually trying again, seems it'd stopped working somehow.

So, I've restarted. I can watch live TV fine now, but EPG update now crashes - i.e. I click the update EPG button, the update window comes up, then the app stops responding (and the window goes white if you leave it). I've tried leaving it 5+ minutes and it doesn't recover ... updated log file attached.

(FWIW, I've started nextPVR again, and live TV still works, so - unlike my previous problem! - it doesn't seem like the card has just bombed out or anything...)

To be honest, I'm not sure. The log doesn't show any error. The log just stops soon after tuning.

You could try DVBGuide or EPGCollector and see if any of them manages to collect epg data.

EPGCollector's worked, so looks like I'll be using that to get EPG data - thanks.

I have this problem about once a fortnight. Everything's going great, EPG updated nightly and then suddenly the wife will complain some channels are showing no show details. If I leave it like that, the EPG doesn't get updated again until the NPVR recording service is re-started.

Part of my problem in tracing this is that with her watching many recordings after the failed update, the logs have been over written and I can't look for any error messages. On the odd occasion I have got in quick, it just looks like the EPG stopped mid flow with no error showing in the logs.

I've also seen this occasionally when doing a manually triggered update....the countdown will start at 60-59-58 etc....and then hang before reaching zero. NPVR has to be re-started but the EPG cannot be updated until the recoding service is also re-started.

I wondered if this is triggered by some problem with the Freesat EPG data that NPVR isn't able to handle?

Not sure if this helps but just discovered the EPG update failed again today.

Nothing in the NPVR logs other than the EPG update just stops mid flow.

Did find the below in the Windows logs though.

Hi folks

I have exactly the same issue

I recently added a DVD-S2 card to my DVD-T system.

The overnight epg update generally fails for the freesat, and this appears to knock out the whole system.
I am getting a lot of SQL Database locked errors.

Thinking it was a problem with the aging system I have upgraded the whole system (motherboard/cpu/ram/hdd etc and OS to windows 8.1 (it was XP).

And the same thing is happening.

The DVD-T channels appear to get the EPG.
The DVD-S2 channels sometime get data, but only ever about the next 12 hrs.

and still with the SQL database lock errors, and general not working PVR lockups.

any ideas?
