Problem with STOP key on remote

There are a couple of “features” I sometimes see in X-NEWA related to pressing the “Stop” key on the remote while watching a recording. Until earlier this year I was using the Windows client and always used the “Esc” key on the remote instead of both “Stop” and “Back” keys so rarely used the “Stop” key. Sometimes when I press the key as well as stopping the recording I get a popup “MAC Discovery failure” for my NextPVR server. I think I have also seen this pressing the “Back” key but there is no problem accessing the server.

More annoying is sometimes when pressing the key as well as stopping the recording it does a sort of the recordings. I don’t know if the unwanted sort is a “feature” of my model of remote control producing double key presses but it happens with both of mine at least once most evenings. I have experimented with pressing the key for over a second and with pressing the “Back” key next to it at the same time to try and find a reason for the sort.

What you dont tell us is what remote software you are using if any or what remote you are using.

Logs would help but that would be typical behavior if you are playing from a share (not on your backend) and during the show the backend goes to sleep.

I don't really like this choice of key for sort, either, I'd like it to be on the hidden menu only.

The server is definitely up all the time and as well as "Stop" causing the popup "Back" has just caused it to pop up.

Is there any way to disable "sort" or reprogram the key in XBMC or NextPVR? Navigating up and down the Recordings menu I have twice just accidentally set off a sort!

The remote control is called "Vista MCE remote" and is running under the latest Openelec.

That would need to come from sub. I could make Stop not make not do anything when video is not playing but it make to Ctrl-S which is a mnemonic keyboard key so it could be used in some plugins too.

Unwanted sorts are becoming a pain but as I said I don't know if its a feature caused by my particular MCE remote sometimes producing a double key press. I was hoping there was a setting in a config file to either use a different key for "Sort" or disable it.

Turning it off would be a wishlist item for sub. I'd need your xbmc log to see if something else is going wrong in x-newa. I use an ultra-mini keyboard so I stop with X.

You can edit the KeyMappings.xml to change the ToggleSortMode key. It's currently:

<Key code="{CTRL}S" command="ToggleSortMode"/>

You can remove that line entirely if you want.
