Hi all,

No digital channels are showing up in NVPR 3.2.9 (*installed on a Xp PRO SP3 box)

What I have done so far to fix the problem:

- Using NPVRSetup 3.2.9 with a HDHomeRun Dual *(OTA only)
(*theses are the only PVR/TV software program's installed on the machine)
- ChannelMaster 4221HD Terrestrial Antenna being used. It is the only signal source for Tuner 0.
- I am using "Tuner 0" on the HD-Homerun, "Tuner 1" has been disabled and capped (*terminated)
- I can see all my ATSC channels in the HD-HomeRun Setup program.
- I've excluded (*allowed) the Nrecord, Nnpvr and NDigitalhost programs in Windows Xp PRO SP3 firewall.
- I've opened (*forwarded) ports 8968, 8866, 7969 on my router.
- I've tried scanning several times with all the device software listed (Other: ATSC-QAM and NVPR)

- For testing purposes, the Windows Firewall is COMPLETELY disabled now ...
- MediaPortal TV Server (*My previous PVR/TV software) has been uninstalled
and all references have been removed from Windows and the registry.

Results, so far:

HD-Homerun Setup finds ALL digital channels INSTANTLY!
NO digital channels are found in NPVR! The SCAN's are BLANK!

HELP! I've been at this since Saturday night!(July 27th), It's mak'in me krazy!

*Please see a zipped copy of my NVPR log's attached

Box Details:
Windows Xp PRO SP3
Intel E8400
HD-Homerun Dual (HDHR-101CAD3F)
*No Analog Tuners are installed ... only the HD-Homerun

Please let me know if you need more info, Thanks in advance.

*Edit: I am using K-Lite Codecs MEGA Pack

<SOLVED>-<SOLVED>-<SOLVED>-<SOLVED>

Hi All!

Following all of your suggestions, I finally got it working. What I did :

- I disabled the Xp PRO firewall with the following at the command prompt.
" netsh firewall set opmode disable "

- I ran PING and TRACERT to make sure I had a connection to the HD-Homerun DUAL

- I changed Hd-Homerun Setup to OTHER: QAM/ATSC and HD-HOMERUN QUICK TV

- I updated the Windows components in HD-Homerun Setup -> Advanced -> Repair/Reinstall Windows Comnponents
(* I think this is what did it, maybe HD-Homerun can't see the NPVR installation until it is reinstalled?)

- I REBOOTED the OS

- When I got back to the desktop, I ran a Channel SCAN and it found all the channels!

Thanks again for everyones help!

The logs you posted don't show any scans, but with this symptom it's the firewall. it's always the firewall. users swear it's not the firewall, they've turned it off, allowed exceptions, whatever, it's still always the firewall in the end. That, and do make sure you set the HDHR driver for the application "Other: ATSC/QAM" and NOT "NPVR".

You have to allow exceptions for NextPVR.exe, NRecord.exe, and NDigitalHost.exe for good measure. Or just turn off the firewall, but make sure it's actually off. Many users seem to end up with multiple firewalls active, make sure you've taken care of all of them.

I've seen a couple of rare cases where no channels were found if an MPEG2 video decoder was not selected in in the NPVR Settings->Decoder section. All other times, it's the firewall.

If I remember correctly, K-Lite packs give you an ffdshow video decoder that requires configuration. You can access the decoder's properties from NPVR's Settings->Decoders screen by pressing the button to the right of the MPEG2 Video dropdown list (assuming ffdshow is selected there). You must enable MPEG 2 libavcodec. Antivirus software has been known to cause issues. I seem to recall an HDHomeRun thread involving Avast.

A few other things to check

- Scanning ATSC doesn't work for me in NPVR mode so I think Other is best
- XP SP3 does needs the MP dvb-hotfix but usually not for scanning. It try it.

No if you pick mpeg2 and ffdshow during install the pack does it for you.

I know that is the weird thing, it scans ... the channel numbers count up to 69 ... and the window remains blank.

How do I "completely" turn off the Windows Xp PRO Firewall? I have it turned off in Control Panel.

It'll almost certainly be your firewall blocking data getting from your device to NextPVR. We get endless reports where this is the problem. As Johnsonx42 says, also worth setting the app to 'Other ATSC/QAM', since some users have also had problems with this.

These are my options for MPEG video in NPVR (*please see attached screenshots):

* ffdshow Video Decoder

* DScaler MPEG Video decoder

Which one should I pick for MPEG?

What can I do to completely shut off the Windows firewall? I have it shut off in Control panel.

Are there other settings in Windows to check/turn off?
