I've moving recordings over night with a script that will then update the DB and point it at the new location.

When a new recording is started, is the DB looked at to determine that xyz show is greater than the number desired and remove the old ones? If so, do you know what log message is posted in this situation, I just want to verify it's working as mine to not seem to be managing themselves.

Actually I've just checked, and when using nextpvr I see 3 recordings of my show (as per the recording rules), but on the file system I see 7 recording files. So it seems the DB is being cleaned up but not the filesystem.

I'm not sure how exactly you're moving your recordings. If they're still in the database with a RecurrenceOID != 0, then they'll be counted.

If you were using the 'Archive' feature in the UI for moving recordings, it set sets the RecurrenceOID = 0.

Essentially doing a nightly Robocopy and a nscripthelper -Rename to update the path.

They're still in the DB after this, but not sure if the RecurranceOID survives. But I seem to be seeing that the DB is keeping the correct number, but it's not able to delete the moved recording? I'd assume that if it can play it, it can delete it?

Would I be correct that when it tries to remove an old recording it is not logged, or wouldn't post an error if it couldn't remove the file

I might not have been able to delete the recording at the time it tried to (like maybe the file was in use or locked or something). If that's the case, it'll log a message in the logs that it tried to delete it but was unable to.

Quote:nscripthelper -Rename
This wouldn't have changed RecurrenceOID, so it'll still be counted.

I've added a "-keep <filename>" to nscripthelper.exe for the next release which you could use if you wanted.

Is that in prerelease? and what does it do (I just checked the change logs and didn't see it mentioned)

Do you know what the log message is when it can't remove the file, I'll have a scan back and have a look

It just sets RecurrenceOID to zero, so that it wont be counted. I just made the change when I saw you post. It'll be in the next pre-release.

Hmm can't see any entries in the logs for this. I may have to check the DB.
