I noticed that starting the tv-guide (timeline) in xbmc takes more than 5 seconds to start.
I don't know if this is normal and if not, I don't know what causes this.

On my androidbox (s89-h) it took 5,464s (08:52:33 T:1763584176 DEBUG: void EPG::CGUIEPGGridContainer::UpdateItems() completed successfully in 5464 ms) on LAN (not wifi).
My npvr.db3 is 10.259 kB (download here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o8hiepmmz29hg08/npvr.db3?dl=0)
Client running Kodi 13.2.
Logs attached.

(on my samsung tablet it took 6,861s on wifi, kodi 13.1).

Wim
EDIT1: I started sqlite and opened the db3. Forgot to back it up first and did a "vaccuum" and after that the db3 is only 3825kB. Will have to check to see if it loads quicker now. Will report back later.
EDIT2: Well, actually it now takes even longer, about 10s.

It's probably the case of a slow android box, and would be quicker on other clients.

I hope I wasn't clear on what I meant. I wasn't talking about the "Importing EPG from clients" when starting Kodi.
I was talking about pressing "LIVE TV - EPG" (Timeline). I wanted to make sure it's not a problem on NextPVR's side. I guess you haven't seem anything strange in the logs, so it's not a nextpvr problem.
I used sqlite3.exe to clone to database and I have a much smaller file now, but that doesn't fix the problem either.

I'll post on Kodi's forum in the android section, because indeed the problem doesn't exist on my windows laptop which either means it's an Kodi on android problem or a slow hardware problem (hoping for the first).

Wim
EDIT: forgot to mention that loading x-newa (including epg) takes less time than starting LIVE TV-EPG. I think that's strange too.

I think once the EPG is loaded during start up (and the periodic refreshes) that all the display and database calls are from within XBMC.

That confirms my theory that it's a kodi-on-android problem. I read more similar issues on android so I posted on kodi's pvr subforum.

Thanks.

After having discussed the issue and searched for other comments on the kodi forum, I put in a feature request because the problem seems to be a problem with slow hardware AND badly written code:
