Getting NextPVR PVR client Tuner not available error with XBMC Frodo.

Hi all,

I am quite new to NextPVR and HD TV tuner card and Live TV on XBMC HTPC. Couple of days back Installed Hauppauge 1250 card and installed NextPVR PVR on my Win7 HTPC. I am using Winegard Flatwave AMED internal HDTV antenna.
Every thing is working fine as expected with NextPVR PVR application. I can watch TV on my HTCP using NextPVR PVR. :

But when I try to watch Live TV using XBMC Frodo using NextPVR PVR addon getting "NextPVR PVR client Tuner not available error" Screen Shot attached.
I followed quick start guide on NextPVR PVR site also on lifehacker site on how to set up NextPVR PVR. but Luck

Any Help will be really appreciated. Of course I can with OTA Live TV using NextPvr by itself, but I don't want to swithc back and forth between XBMC and NextPVR.

System Info:
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit)
Processor: AMD 6300, 6-core processor
RAM: 8GB
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 5450
HDTV Card: Hauppauge 1250 WinTV-HVR Internal HDTV card
TV Antenna: Winegard FlatWave AMPED HD TV Antenna

NextPVR PVR Client: NPVRS 3.3.8
XBMC Version: Frodo
NextPVR PVR Addon Version: 1.6.5

Added firewall exceptions for NextPVR.exe, NRecord.exe, and NDigitalHost.exe

I can see the Channel list on left hand side but when I try to play the Channel I get "NextPVR PVR client Tuner not available error"

If you can reproduce the problem, and post your xbmc.log (with debug enabled), and your web.log/nrecord.log, I'll see if there is any obvious reason for the problem.

Have you tried it with Gotham?

Thank you for such a quick reply. I can reproduce the problem. Here are the logs attached.

I didn't not try with Gotham. I have some customization and it don't want to spend time doing that in Gotham. But if upgrading to Gotham is the only option i can certainly do that.

XBMC isn't able to handle major.minor numbers, so you'd probably need to renumber your channels in NextPVR so they have single channel number. ie you can set the major number to whatever you want (but it'll have to be unique), and set the minor number to zero.

It seems to be this that is causing the problems in your logs.

I am running XBMC Gotham and NextPVR 3.3.8 and ran into the OP's problem also. I can confirm that the above fix from "sub" resolved all my problems.

Thank you again.

After re-numbering the channels, i can see the channels are now working but with very choppy video on preety much on every channel. An no audio. Like i said earlier, all channels are working really well when I play then through NextPvr application.

These will be playback issue within XBMC itself. NextPVR will be providing the original ATSC data stream to XBMC, and it's up to XBMC to decode it, and give you the audio+video.

I assume playback of recordings is the same?

When you say playback of recording, do you mean playback of all the movies and videos within XBMC? I can playback all the movies, music videos and shows that i have without any issue within XBMC. Most of the movies I have are bluray ripped or 1080P movies. They all work fine within XBMC.

No, I mean playing one of the transport streams recordings you've made from one of your channels. ie, so you're comparing apples with apples.

Hi Sub,

I recorded one show using NextPVR and tried to pay in XBMC. The video was really choppy and no sound at all. After reading some of the forum post I found the solution.

I changed the audio settings in XBMC and it is now working flawlessly
