Hi

Does nPVR support the Sat>IP Protocol at all? I've got a mass of cables behind my servers which I would like to get rid of and the sat>ip tuners (or even better IP-LNB) would solve this issue.

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...ol-support Using http you could now use nextpvr's built in http/rtsp protocol which seem available in this spec I http://www.satip.info/sites/satip/files/...per_v1.pdf

just wondering... what's the advantage of this over just having a satelite tuner plugged into the machine that is running next pvr? Thats what I have, and this back end then offers the data over network to any number of clients... really interested to know what I've missed, in case I should implement this

The main advantage of the Sat>IP is that instead of having x number of cables coming in to the back of your HTPC (I have 4 tuners, so have four cables but with more it becomes really messy) you have a single Ethernet cable, with the actual satellite cables to Sat>IP boxed stored elsewhere i.e. under the house where cables do not matter. It also makes the entire system IP aware so you could have tablets etc accessing the streams from the sat>ip device if they do not support nPVR for example... Its a really neat way of doing network DVB transmission, similar to the HDhomerun style.

I've got no real objection to adding support for Sat>IP, but I don't currently have any hardware, so no practical way to add support at this time.

your DRIRecorder use RTSP and set an RTP Port
that is similar to Sat>Ip

but i can not test without DRI Tuner if it works with Satip

Yes, I agree - it is similar to what would be required for Sat>Ip.

Sat>ip support is included in the next release.

As per our emails on the subject, I never did hear anything back from the sat>ip guys. They don't seem interested in talking to me. My opinion of this technology has gone down because of it.
