Have the following setup:

Next PVR 3.3.8 --Win 7--Firewall Disabled
HD Homerun Prime 3 tuner box
Win 7 laptop-running kodi helix
Linux Laptop-running kodi helix
2- Android Tablets running kodi Helix
1- Raspberry Pi running Openelec 5.0 - kodi Helix

I have the tuners working fine with NexPVR. I am watching Live TV and recording with no errors. On my win 7 and Linux laptops running Kodi, everything is wrking fine. With the two android tablets, everything is working fine. My issue is when trying to play live TV from the Raspberry Pi, I get Nextpvr Pvrclient no tuner available and sometimes there is a buffering at 0 percent at the top. I have the mpeg 2 license and it will play whatever I have recorded just fine, just not live TV using the NextPVR addon. I also configured the PI to watch live TV from the tuners themselves and the PI played live TV from the tuners themselves just fine. Just trying to figure out why Live TV will not work through the Next PVR addon.

Any help is appreciated.

Given it's working fine on Windows and Linux, it's sounding like some problem with the Pi port of Kodi. We don't really seem to have much in the way of Raspberry Pi experts around here, so you might be better off asking on the Kodi forums, and make it clear the Windows and Linux versions are working.

I am having the same problem on RASPBMC it fails 100% of the time on the first try to watch livetv it works about %50 of the time on the 2nd try. It is unbearable there is no problem with the other PVR clients serverwmc or mediaportal.

Thanks Sub for the reply, I will post both on Kodi and Openelec forums to see if they can help.

I personally wouldn't bother it's been posted lots of times on the Kodi forums. It's something RPi specific that will need more debug info then is in the logs.

Martin,

Could you recommend a fairly cheap frontend client I can use? Again, I appreciate any help.

It depends on your definition of fairly cheap. I have an Asus chromebox which I think makes a great client for Npvr. It's fast in the menus and has great playback. I record ATSC over the air in the US with a hdhomerun dual. This box plays back my mpeg2 recordings perfectly. It's seems silent as a client since it never seems taxed enough for the fan to run.

It is a lot more expensive than the Rpi though at $159.00 US. Also it doesn't have a built in IR reciever. Mine worked fine with the flirc usb adapter (another $15.00) until I discovered that my Logitech hub based remote would control it through bluetooth.

Any reason why you do not use the X-NEWA Web Client for livetv? I completely disabled the NEXPVR client plugin and only use X-NEWA on my Raspberry PI.
