Exporting and importing a channel list

Hi again!
I have NPVR installed on several notebooks, which I use with an old Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS TV tuner.
What I wanted to do was to scan for all the available channels, order them and export the list to import it in my other computers.
So, after scanning, I went to Settings -> Channels, ordered the channels moving them with + and -, then, I went to Devices -> Export Channels and got a xml file.
But, when I tried to import the list to another notebook (btw, I had already made a scan also there), the channels were not ordered the same way I ordered them.

Moreover, I tried to delete some channels in the "destination" computer and, when I imported the list, the channels in Settings -> Channels were the same, while in Devices the list was the one I imported.

So, perhaps I'm missing something, but I can't understand how things works and why the list in Channels doesn't match the list I imported in Devices.

Thanks in advance!

When you rearrange channel numbers, it will only have effect on the order channels are displayed in tv guide. BTW, why would you export your channel list to another computer instead of scanning? If it is a client, it will use the channels from the server, and if it has its own tuner it will be different HW and thus need to be scanned? Or what?

Well, my purpose would be simply to order the channels once, so I don't have to do it in my other notebooks.
The hardware is the same: one Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS TV tuner.

Else, I can't understand what's the point of having the possibility to export/import the channels list.

I just checked, and it should end up with the same channel numbers and ordering....assuming you don't already have those channel numbers, and you have no duplicate numbers. If you do have duplicates, it gives the clashing channel a new number at the end of the list.

But if the hardware is the same and your npvr installation is the same on all computers, why not just copy npvr.db3 to the other computers?

Ok, this worked. It keeps channels order. And I'm glad it doesn't mess up the other settings. :o

By the way, I previously tried to delete all the channels in the destination notebook, then imported the list, but the channels were not in order. Rolleyes

Many thanks!

P.S. Perhaps, it would be nice to write this procedure in the wiki. Searching (as I always do before asking), I didn't find any information.

Probably not useful in the wiki, it is very rare that someone has multiple identical computers with exactly the same tuners attached.
