Is it possible to move the npvr databases from users/public/npvr to a different folder?

I want to move them to a network drive. So I don't confuse my client machine when I reboot the npvr server box.

It's possible.

  1. Stop all NPVR services/apps on server and all clients.
  2. Move the NPVR folder to new drive.
  3. On the server, edit the following registry value to point to the new location:
    Code:
    For x86: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NPVR\DataDirectory
    For x64: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\NPVR\DataDirectory
  4. On the clients, change the <DatabaseShare> value in config.xml
  5. Restart server processes.
  6. Restart clients.

The clients will probably still get confused though when they can't communicate with the recording service that is running on the server.

I don't think it is that simple as you will break the sockets that are also needed for .NET services that don't reconnect. At the end of the day you will just make everything much slower, sqlite is not very efficient running from a share.

wow is that true. on occasion I've run an EPG update from a client, and even over a gigabit network connection between two reasonably fast machines, the whole process takes well over 10 minutes vs. less than a minute with the database on local storage (honestly I'd say it's a good 20x difference).
