I just installed gb-pvr and it is working well controlling my pvr-150 from my mediamvp etc.

Problem: I must be missing something basic about the www server.
I get "The page cannot be displayed" whenever I put the following url into my www browser: http://192.168.0.8/gbpvr/login.aspx
This is the local ip on my PC running gb-pvr.
I enabled the web server in config. I've tried it with and without a login and password.
I disabled my windows XP home firewall.

I'm running a netgear router with dhcp on my local network.

Any suggestions?

thanks,
Tom

The service doesn't run on port 80, so unless you have changed the port the server shold run on (in the config app), the url to enter should be:
http://localhost:7647/gbpvr/login.aspx

Thanks for replying Stefan.
No joy though. I did not change the default port but I tried the url you posted and it did not work either.
It takes a long time "thinking" about it in my browser and then displays the same message "The page cannot be displayed", down in the taskbar it says "cannot find server."
I tried variations using the ip address also.
thanks,
Tom

The above URL will only work from the machine GB-PVR is running on, any other machine on your network will need to use:

http://192.168.0.8:7647/gbpvr/login.aspx

Which assumes that 192.168.0.8 is the current IP address of your GB-PVR box. Also, because you have XP SP2, you either need to open port 7647 or disable the firewall.

A couple of additional suggestions. You may want to reserve the IP address for your GB-PVR box in your router's configuration tool. This will allow the box to have a consistent IP address on your home network. If you are trying to access the box from outside your home network, you'll need to know the IP address of your router. You would then use the router's IP address (let's assume it is 111.222.33.44) in the URL; ie. http://111.222.33.44:7647/gbpvr/login.aspx. Also, you'll need to set up port forwarding in the router to send all port 7647 traffic to the IP address of your GB-PVR box on your home network. Finally, remember that your router's IP address may be dynamically assigned by your ISP as well.
