I've just done a fresh install of Windows 8.1, installed the drivers for my Hauppauge 1229 WinTV-HVR-2255 via the provided DVD, installed NextPVR, installed the latest DirectX Runtime from Microsoft's website, and went to scan for channels in NextPVR for my tuner card. However, I am unable to find any channels when I perform a scan on any of the five devices listed.

I've provided my log files. Anyone know the problem? 8.1 shouldn't be the problem as even 7 wasn't detecting channels properly.

the log shows it never gets a signal on any frequency.

is your antenna connected to the right F-connector on the card? the top one is for TV, the bottom is for FM radio.

The tuner card is installed horizontally on my motherboard as it is PCI-based, so would this be the left connector or right?

The "top" would be the edge furthest from the PCI connectors edge. (the PCI connector normally would be at what is considered the "bottom" even in tower case - which I consider to be "on it's side")

Ignore the 2 QAM and the IPTV devices. In fact, you probably should disable them. Then, just scan one of the ATSC tuners, don't do the second one until you have the first one set up correctly including EPG. Then, NPVR will offer to copy the configured tuner to the other one. Way easier this way.

Do you have a Hauppauge capture of tuner program like Hauppauge Capture or WinTV? It would be good to know if you can get a signal/picture from the tuners using another software package.

I'll try this out but what's EPG stand for?

EPG = Electronic Program Guide = a guide to "what's on TV" for the channels your tuner receives. NPVR is EPG-centric in that it is designed to have an EPG that you use to decide which programs to record and watch later. Live TV is an ancillary service; you can also use the guide to decide what to watch. You need to get the guide data from an external source such as Schedules Direct (SD). SD is not free, but they have a free trial to get you started. This is the best, most reliable source of guide data for the US. There are other less reliable sources, you can look at mc2xml. SD is directly supported by NPVR; mc2xml requires extra steps.

I suppose you could use NPVR without a guide, but it might be pretty lame. It's really really designed to be used with a guide.
