Major Audio Issues with related Video Issues

Windows 7 with RealTek and Colossus and HDMI output

I am getting the impression these guys are not friends. If I exit NextPVR, to watch streaming Internet or old wtv programs in my WMC, and return to live TV (whether NextPVR or WinTV) the audio drops and video is unwatchable choppy. I have "fixed" it twice ... not sure how. I just uninstalled all drivers basically. Not a good long term solution at all.

There must be a big conflict with audio. I have been seriously struggling to get 5.1 Surround output to my receiver for the past four months. I have tried everything but gave up after I installed a Xonar DGX sound card (trying Optical instead of HDMI) and I totally crashed my system. I just listened to stereo on my two front speakers, which remains a total sound experience bummer.

I know I have left out a lot of technical information, but I don't know where this conflict lies and what exactly I need to provide. I have read a ton of blogs, posts, and articles - but nothing works for me. I cannot even open a RealTek audio manager to modify the speakers as the program does not seem to exist. I am incredibly scared to open any other programs because of this issue.

If anyone has even the smallest idea of what to do, I am open to all suggestions. I flashed my bios and re-installed all programs/drivers - yet nothing. It is so frustrating to have a HTPC that does not work.

Everything in NextPVR seems to think I have AC-3, but I do not. It is stereo only. And I still have the MAJOR issue of watching anything outside NextPVR and after returning to NextPVR it crashes. My system is highly unstable and may not be specific to NextPVR, which leads me to believe that is why I not received responses. I am a novice and frustrated, that is really the only thing I know. You'll need to zip and post your logs folder after a crash, or it is anyone's guess what the problem is...

Sounds like your Win audio is all messed up. The most expedient solution might be a re-install of Windows. Make sure you only have one audio device enabled, at least to start. If there is motherboard audio and you want to use the Xonar card, you probably need to disable the motherboard device in the BIOS.

There haven't been reports of problems with Realtek audio, and lots of people here use HDMI (not me though). You should have a Realtek setup program, mine came with the motherboard drivers. Or, you could get from Realtek or from your motherboard mfgr.

Regarding the choppy video and audio drops, what decoders are you using? The MS DTV/DVD decoder works well for video on Win7. Depending on what audio format you have in China, AC3Filter works well for AC3, and the LAV audio decoders seem to work well as well. You should also have Hauppauge decoders that came with the Colossus. Those should work as well.

There is no crash shown in those logs. It just shows an orderly shutdown of the app. Do you see any error message on the screen? If so, what does it say?

From your description of the problem though, its not sounding like your problem is in NextPVR, but somewhere in the audio output setup on your PC.
