What does "Forget" do in the recordings menu?

After a quick search I cannot see what "forget" does in the recordings screen. When I have a recording highlighted and then bring up the "Back", "Sort", "Filter", "Man-rec", "forget" menu and select "Forget" it asks me if I want to Forget the recording. If I say OK nothing seems to change.

What is the purpose of this feature?

This is related to the "don't record duplicates" logic. ie, the app keeps a list of all the shows it's recorded, so that it won't record it again in the near future. If you find your guide was wrong, and it's recorded the wrong show, you can use 'forget' to tell it to forget about this episode...causing it to be rerecorded if it's aired again some time soon.
