No audio, excellent video for live TV

Just installed NEXTPVR and getting good video using MainConcept(HCW) MPEG-2 Video Decoder, but no audio.

Windows PC running Windows 7
Hauppauge HVR-2250

Which audio decoder should be enabled and which choice under that decoder should I select?

US digital TV uses AC3 audio. There's a chance that a SD sub-channel may use MPEG1. Set all the other audio to Disabled.

If you need an AC3 decoder, many use AC3Filter for US TV. Free, easy to install, and reliable. Also, set the Audio Renderer to Default.

Sounds like you have the Hauppauge software installed, so you can select their decoder for AC3 audio. Without WinTV, you could install AC3Filter, and use Microsoft's decoder for MPEG2 video.

I also have no audio.I have a WinTV 950Q on a Dell 660 PC Windows 7.
Since Media Center went south, I've been looking for an alternative.
I've tried a couple of PVR softwares and they all have the same issue.
No audio out to the HDMI.
I've tried all of the audio codec choices for the AC3 usage. I have found that the only one that works is a Dolby decoder. This works fine for about 20 seconds, then stops.
There is still audio, I've played a music clip via VLC and it continues playing while the PVR software goes silent.
The same exact thing happens with other PVR software as well. So I'm wondering where the problem lies?
Any help?

Do you have Realtek High Definition Audio? Have you tried making HDMI Output the default playback device? Are you using a digital receiver or a TV's speakers? Have you tested for compatible formats? The Dolby decoder sounds like a trial version, likely part of some codec pack you downloaded (hope it didn't include malware). You should uninstall that and install AC3Filter (or LAV, or WinTV). [Edit] So what's wrong with W7MC anyway? You don't like the new Rovi data or can't seem to get it?

I have AC3 Parce Filter, that didn't work.
MainConcept Dolby Digital Decoder is what is working, sort of.
The program data disappeared, is there some new way of getting program data? I see that Rovi is a data source.

You might need to go into the Windows 'Sound' control panel, and set the HDMI audio device as your default device. Otherwise audio is probably default to some other device (which may not have anything connected).

Ok I got it working with the AC3Filter. The AC3 Parce Filter is something else and I thought choosing that was a good idea.
Speaking of malware, the AC3Filter installer wanted to install a browser too. Gotta be on the lookout for that stuff.

Where did you download that AC3 filter from? I'v never seen it try to install anything else.
