I have nextpvr set up on XP with a PVR-500 dual analog tuner card.

when in full screen mode the video will freeze or pause while the OSD information banner is up on the screen, during this time the sound is still playing normal & when the OSD info banner drops down video then resumes, I also noticed if I right click on the mouse while the OSD info banner & paused video are on the screen it will open a menu box & as soon as that happens video resumes as normal while the menu box is open & the OSD being displayed, if I close the menu box before the OSD info banner drops then video will freeze again till the info banner drops.

Is this a bug or is there something I don't have set up properly ?

Thanks

Try changing the renderer (in decoder panel) to VMR9 then restart next pvr.
if you still get the problem, reproduce it and then zip up and upload yours log files. Also tell us what graphics card/chipset you are using.

VMR9 & 7 both produce a band of garbage to the right side of the picture so it may not like my tuner card or perhaps the Nvida pure video mpeg2 decoder being used, it works perfect in overlay mode except it does not retain aspect ratio setting when channel is changed or live tv is exited then re entered (same problem I have playing DVD files they will only play somewhat properly in overly render but the aspect must be reset every time because they always start in 4:3 regardless of the setting till I re toggle the aspect settings)

I will try using another decoder & see what happens.

my graphics card is a Ati Radeon HD 4300 not sure of the chip set info

Display is a Panasonic 46" plasma 720P

what location are the log files stored ?

Thanks

ok I have it 98% solved now for anyone with these problems this is what has worked for me so far (have been able to resolve all my issues by changing mpeg decoders, the only issue remaining is no FF or REW during DVD folder file playback, not a big deal for me jump works fine)

For Live TV with analog Hauppage PVR-500 tuner

Video Render: EVR (I was able to get VMR 9 to work but not able to fill the screen)

Video Decoders:

MPEG 2 Video: ffdshow (I was able to use it with other video decoders but they would freeze the picture while the OSD banner was up)
MPEG Audio: Hauppage mpeg 1/2 audio decoder
AC3: fdshow

For SD DVD & DVD file playback:

Render: Overlay

use InterVideo Video & audio decoders

this will properly display the menu & will retain the preset aspect ratio between DVD's

the only problem I found with this decoder setup is FF & REW cause all kinds of funky problems like studder loop & sometimes crash or freeze up of the program so never use it, jump > or jump < works ok though.

good news. to try and get it working 100%, download the SAF6 codec pack (designed to work with nextpvr) and send hoberg a private message to request the unlocked version

then you can use the cyberlink decoder for mpeg video which is one of the best there is (in my view). this will probably fix you outstanding issues.
