NextPVR doesn't seem to records shows with the SxEx filename even though I have it turned on it settings. The EPG it uses is the freeview channels themselves.

Could anyone help me please.

The DVB EPG doesn't include series and episode numbers, so you won't get these.

It does appear in the extended description but I NextPVR can't parse that. Are there any other ways the get a good EPG? I tried XMLTV GUI Grabber but it doesn't seem to work anymore with Radio Times

It doesn't attempt to look in description text to extract it from there.

I'm not in that part of the world, so not that familiar with the various EPG there. Someone else might be able to tell you.

I use Metabroadcast Atlas EPG. If you can point out a show in a day or so's time in the future that is doing what you describe, I'll see what my EPG displays.

Thanks I found the issue, I forgot to tell XML TV which channels to scan.

On a related note, now I have Episode information, will NPVR now use that to detect new episodes rather than the time it was broadcast?

I changed some time ago when it seemed Birtles xmltvgui Radio Times grabber wasn't keeping up with new channels arriving.
It seems slower than xmltvgui but grabs a lot more info.
Setting up is a little tedious, but I've only had to do it once. I use the standard xmltv windows executable package which has included atlas for some time now in updateepg.bat

xmltv tv_grab_uk_atlas --output=guide.xml --days=7

An API key is required - but this is freely available for home use. https://atlas.metabroadcast.com/

You don't need any of the complex looking stuff on the Atlas site, xmltv does all teh work.

No idea why the exe is missing from that link!

That looks like the correct link......Most odd. I use the executable from http://wiki.xmltv.org/index.php/XMLTVProjectDownload as it seems to be updated at the same time as the main distribution.
