Not so long ago I build a new htpc with an Athlon A10 4.4GHz cpu and a 4Tb raid array, this gives me enough space and power to do all processing (comskip, srt extraction etc), so I really want to keep this computer as my htpc. But unfortunately this new motherboard does not handle my USB tuners well. The tuners work for a while and delivers data but then stops. This hangs NDigitalHost process which in turn freezes the recording service and I miss recordings, epg update etc and have all sorts of problems. I have tried both usb3 and usb2 connectors, usb3- and usb2-hubs (powered and unpowered) cross connected in every combination but no luck. The tuners works excellent on my other computers so they are ok.

So, I had the idea of putting all the usb tuners on a "spare" computers which is mostly used for email and occational Solitaire games (and very rarely browsing men's websites Wink), and let this computer feed the data to my htpc via the IPTV device. Can the iptv device handle multiple channel requests and stream from several tuners on the remote computer?

Is Network Recorder the tool for the job? It says 'ere ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...rkRecorder ... that NextPVR on one machine can use NextPVR on a second machine as a "Device". I have no clue how to configure all that but I know a forum that can probably help.

I have tried it before, and it kind'a works but not stable enough.

I have used Network Recorder to communicate between two machines and it seemed to work OK. It was mostly just testing and casual use, not real "production". I think there was an issue with live TV and Martin helped me figure it out. Check the threads on the Network Recorder section of Martin's stuff.

For the original USB problem, how about a USB PCI/PCIe card? If that bypassed the MBs USB subsystem, it might be an option.

I think I have exhausted all the options NR can offer, I need something that can stream multiple channels. Re usb problem, I have thought of that, but unfortunately modern MB's have only one PCI slot and my is occupied by the only well working tuner, the Cinergy C PCI HD card.

The IPTV source is really intended for true IPTV sources, where all channels are available at the same time. If you'd tried to use it to remotely access a tuner in another machine, it's going to lead to problems, because it's not going to know anything about the limitations at the far end. It doesn't know you're not going to be able to record two channels at the same time because you've only got one physical tuner etc.

The remote will have 6 tuners with 4 instances each, so I'm really not afraid of that... Will it work otherwise?

Maybe. I do think it's a bad idea though.

Well, it's the ONLY idea to solve the problem at hand Wink
