Newbie. Channels set, epg ok but no record or live tv

Hello.
I have just installed NPVR on a Windows Vista laptop and followed the configurations instructions as well as I can. The system has found the tuner and populated the EPG but will not record or show live TV. When I select live TV it shows "please wait" and nothing further.
When I right click on the tray icon and select "restart recording service" I get a dialogue box that says "unable to start service: systemInvalidOperationExceptionService NPVR. I have included a screenshot in the zip file of the logs.
please can you tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Simply stated, NextPVR is two programs ... the client program is what you see and have been using. NextPVR also includes a background service that runs continuously and it is this service that connects to the tuner hardware and transfers the TV stream to the NextPVR client program to show as LiveTV (the service also records TV). It appears that the NextPVR service is missing on you machine.

Run the install again which might fix it ... you could try "Run as Administrator" when you run the install. I suggest that you reboot before you redo the install and reboot after the install to kill gremlins.

The Recording Service creates a nrecord.log file in the logs folder ... if you don't get a nrecord.log then the Recording Service is still AWOL.

Sorry about the slow response, I've been away from the system for a while.
That seems to have got it live TV going. Recording is not available when I right-click on a programme in the listings and restart recording service no longer gives an error.

Hello Badg, don't right-click, double-click or press Enter (this isn't Media Centre). BTW have you set recording directory?

Firstly, it's good to see the correct usage and spelling of "programme".

Secondly, there is a Remote Control and Keyboard Shortcuts section at the bottom of ... http://www.nextpvr.com/nwiki/pmwiki.php?...al.TVGuide

To expand on what Zeb is saying ... the table appears to be missing a row ... to display the Details Popup, press the Enter key on the keyboard or the OK key on the remote.

Thanks for your responses.
I have stopped right-clicking and examined the keyboard guide in the manual. I had set the recording folder previously. I now have a programme recording completed and playing.
Onwards and Upwards.
