I'm new to this software, but i'm loving it so far. My primary use for it is converting an old TV tuner I found into a capture card for playstation 2 - primary display on my telly, and a composite out going from the telly to the cap card for streaming/skype friends/etc. Works beautifully!

However.

I'm trying to keep disk usage down, even temporary disk usage. I know NextPVR splits buffer recordings, but it just keeps making more the longer I play on my Playstation, and for my peace of mind I'd love to know if I can set this component-in up so that it doesn't use a buffer at all?

That is to say, I don't want NextPVR dumping my gameplay into a massive temporary recording - I just want it to display my composite in, no massive buffer for rewinding etc.

Alternative solutions that keep disk usage down, to prolong the life of my hard drive, are very very welcome.

Logs attached in the rar.

I don't know of any way to turn of the Live TV buffer. How many minutes of life do you hope to be able to add to the life of your disk Big Grin

Well, it could be that I'm blowing this way out of proportion.

I know my mechanical drive is old enough that I'm not gonna be using it for constant access stuff like storing the buffer, so I'm using my brand new SSD, an "affordable-but-probably-crap" SanDisk "Plus" 120GB model.

I don't know enough about modern SSDs to determine whether finding a way to reduce the amount NextPVR writes to it will have any big impact on lifespan. Anyone know what happens when LiveTV fills up an entire partition? I might look into just making a small ~5gb partition on the thing for NextPVR alone.

FYI, it's not going to just keep growing a filling your hard drive. It'll only keep a maximum of 20 minutes worth of buffer on disk (spread across up to 4 files).

You can't stop it doing this buffering, but you can reduce the number of minutes it'll buffer.
