How to force Recordings to use NFO files for title and description?

I use Next PVR almost exclusively to record and watch digital TV, but sometimes the TV stations have the shows listed poorly, with bad titles (e.g. 'Iron Man - Premiere (with lotto at 7pm)') and / or with bad descriptions. I am using Media Companion to create NFO files with properly scraped titles and descriptions, but how can I force Next PVR to use the NFO files for its titles and descriptions, rather than using whatever title the TV station chose to list in the EPG?

the short answer is that you can't.

the longer answer is that if you can write a program or batch script to do it, you could theoretically pull the data you want from the .nfo file and reformat it into the format of the embedded metadata.xml in the recording file (i.e. filename.ts:metadata.xml), and then use the NextPVR Video Library function to access your shows (add your recording path(s) to the Video Library), and click the checkbox in Settings->Misc2 "Show new metadata screens in Video Library" (which causes the video library to use the metadata info when displaying video files for playback).

there's also a flag in config.xml to create the metadata.xml as a separate file, which I think also prevents it from creating the embedded version, which might make it easier for you to manipulate the data.

That's a shame - I've been testing the waters with Kodi as a front end, but it doesn't neatly hold both movies (recorded off digital TV) and TV shows (recorded off digital TV) in the same folder... It seems to force you to choose either movie or TV shows as the appropriate scraper for the folder.
