I am swapping out my 3 DCR-2650s for a single Ceton 6-channel tuner.

Is there any way to cut&paste anything in the DB or Config file, or must I go thru the entire channel setup procedure for the Ceton.

Thanx.

Unfortunately these use different tuning information, so no straight forward way to setup. You'll need to scan on at least the first device.

The one annoyance with Ceton devices is that we can't currently tell which channels are copy-freely, so it's up to you to disable channels you can't watch.

sub,

The early stages of the swap were going well, until I noticed I'm missing many of my channels after scanning the tuner.
Initially I had Comcast resync the cablecard but the problem still exists.

I then used the Ceton diagnostic tool to verify the channels were there and working.

As a final test, I set the Ceton up in SageTV using SageDCT and the channels are there.

Hopefully you can figure this out.

I have included the logs; let me know if there's anything else I can do.

Thanx.

Your logs don't show the actual scan. You'll need to scan again, then post the npvr.log.

sub,

Before I read your response, I took a spare PC and did a fresh install of NPVR and the scan went OK.

Anyhow, here is the log from the rescan.

Are you still having missing channels, or is it all fine now? If you're still missing any channels, take a look at the following URL, and you'll see the list of channels the Ceton has told NextPVR about:

This is getting really confusing.

The URL link you sent has a total of 1024 channels.
That is what I get when I do the scan on my production system.
(the system that previously was running off 3 DCR-2650s)
A quick look at the individual channels I get after the scan looks pretty much like the URL listing.
You would think everything is performing as expected, even though the URL list is actually missing quite a few channels.

Here's where it gets crazy.
As I said earlier, I set up a new test system.
The scans on that system seem to fluctuate quite a bit.
My last scan there found a total of 510 channels from 244 tables processed, including those channels missing from the URL list.
This number is very close to what I used to get with my DCR-2650.

The attached log is from the test system scan; the one that includes the missing channels. (792, 890, i.e.)

Is it possible to add the missing channels to the URL list?

The logs you posted earlier used the channel list from the Ceton.

.....

In the most recent log you posted, the Ceton device didn't respond on that url for the list of channels, so it continued to do a manual scan.

You can tell the difference between the two methods on the screen. ie, either the list of channels appears almost immediately, or you see the number of tables counting up and the channels progressively appear.

You might be best to try aim for getting the results from the Ceton device. I'm not sure why it didn't respond with this. Maybe it hadn't received all the information from the cable network at the time you tried. You might have found leaving it for a few minutes before reattempting the scan would have then got the info from the Ceton.

Either way though, with the Ceton devices we can't tell which channels are copy-protected, so it'll be up to you to disable the channels you can't receive.

I'm not sure I understand.

Are you saying I should try to get the list of channels in the URL to load instead of having them manually loaded?
If so, I have no problem doing that from my production system.
I have done it several times with the same results.
The problem with that is the list is missing many channels.

It is curious though that as many times as I have tried from my test system it always does it manually.

I'm pretty sure there are other Ceton users out there; one of them is around Philadelphia which is not far from me.
I wonder how they are able to scan all the channels that I am missing?
