Hey sub,

What's the possibility of adding network shares to the mix when selecting a recording directory with the most available space. From what I understand that is only available to local drives only.

Whoever wrote the System plugin does it too.

when it was implemented, the logic for that choice had nothing to do with not knowing how to determine the available space on a UNC path. It was initially implemented with a quick patch (although it didn't actually work until the following release), and the idea at the time is that users who have UNC paths defined on a NAS box or other remote storage would probably have more space available there than the preferred internal storage so extending this to UNC paths without additional settings would render the internal storage useless (or more likely, render the new feature useless).

I suggested at some point awhile back having a more robust recording path setup where each path would have various attributes including:

- Include in pool (i.e. spread recording)
- Minimum GB Free (to start recording)
- Overflow only (to be used only when other recording paths are full)

I don't get the impression that there is any appetite for implementing such a change for the next release though.

Hope this is optional. My NAS is now broken and I would rather failures then filling up my system SSD that I use for live tv only.

Thanks.

Martin.
