At first, thank you for the great app.
Noticed some problems, maybe some of them are easy to solve:
1) Can't change to next/previous channel with CH+ and CH-; have to go back to tv guide to choose a channel;
2) Can't select a certain channel with number if that channel has no epg i.e. if channel no. 1 has no epg pressing "1" on the remote has no effect;
3) Channel change is very slow, takes at least 10-12 secs (on kodi android takes 1-2 secs.);
4) GUI is very very slow.
Anyway, very good project.
Thank you,
sdf

Thanks.

CH+ and CH- is not implemented yet. I'm meaning to but there is no timeframe ATM.
You can use the “now-next mini guide” instead of going back to tv guide. Navigate up or down in Live TV will show the mini guide. Use up/down/CH+/CH- and enter to select channel.

Thanks for pointing it out, I hadn't noticed.
It turns out the problem is the mini guide data provided by Next PVR doesn't include channels with no EPG. I'll have to ask Sub if non EPG channels can be included too.

I's a known issue. My app is responsible for 1 to 3 secs depending on how the channel change is made. Select channel in mini guide is faster than select by number.
The rest of the time is shared between Next PVR tuning and setting up the http stream and the media player buffering.
I don't know how Kodi does it but I suspect the media player doesn't need to buffer much and it is also possible Kodi access the buffer file directly not depending on the slower http streaming.

I've also noticed that my LG is 1-2 secs faster than the Samsung H-model.

You didn't tell me your server setup or TV model, but...
This is not normal behavior. Navigating on a modern quad core smart TV will be faster than older dual core models. But not painfully slow, just a bit slower.
You can use your desktop browser pointed at http://<your server>:8866/touch3/client3.html to get a feeling of what to expect on a modern TV.

Network and server performance is also relevant. My production server is a core i3 where TV client navigation is instant and almost feels like using the windows client.
My backup has an Atom processor and is noticeably slower, but still not too annoying.

Thank you for your response Fred.
Sorry, didn't tell you the TV Model, it's a Samsung H6400 (quad core), so cpu power shouldn't be a problem.
I use Nextpvr on my home LAN (tablet, smartphone, and a gigabit cable PC) and I'm sure network and server (intel i5 4400-8gb ram) is not a problem.
In fact kodi android is on my smartphone, (LG G3), same wifi lan and channel change takes 1-2 secs.
Will try to investigate further.
When you have time, and want me to test something on samsung h series platform, tell me.
Thank you again,

Tried http://<my ip>:8866/touch3/client3.html from another PC and the GUI is very very slow. So your app is not the culprit.
Will try to find where is the problem.

Make sure that you have the EXACT DirectX software required by NextPVR installed on your server. (Having a newer version installed does not work.) Check your log files for a message something like "DirectX9 Runtime not installed, using software emulation" or something like that which indicates that the software isn't installed properly.
