It would probably be good to have a setting (on by default for new users) which would give additional information to user when canceling a specific instance of a recurring recording. For those of us that understand how NextPVR scheduling works, we could turn if off to avoid the extra information box.
The box could say something like:
"Warning: You are about to cancel a specific episode/recording instance for a recurring recording. If you want to cancel all (future) episodes of this program, go to the Recurring Recordings screen and Cancel the recurring recording entry in that list. Canceling this specific episode will cause it to not be remarked for recording even if you cancel and recreate the recurring recording in the future.
Do you want to continue?"
I'll have to admit that I'm not exactly sure how Updates to specific instances work. I think any change to a specific instance will get lost at the next EPG update (if it occurs before the recording). If so, it would probably also be useful to having something like:
"Warning: You are about to Update a specific episode/recording instance for a recurring recording. If you want to update all (future) episodes of this program, go to the Recurring Recordings screen and Update the recurring recording entry in that list. Any updates made to this specific instance will revert to the Recurring Recording settings after an EPG update.
Do you want to continue?"
I know that sub and others are not keen on having extra warnings or confirmations like this. But as long as it can be turned off, I don't really think that it would be a problem for those that don't want to see it. And, with the demise of WMC in Windows 10, we seem to be seeing an uptick in the number of new users trying NextPVR and not understanding exactly how it works. These tend to add a good number of support posts on the forums. If we can add a few user interface modifications to try to address some of these common misunderstandings, etc. early on, it should be a win-win for both the (new) users and those of us trying to help provide support.
