for a few days things have been fairly stable. Now last night we had all our recordings simply not work. The recording folders were created but no files. ALso, tuning wouldnt' work. Restarting all services left NPVR in state where it complained about "no tuners available". The only fix was to reboot the machine.

Anyone else see this?

If you can supply the logs, with the name/time of a failed recording, I'll take a look.

Here are the logs. There were several failed recordings at different times ranging around 7pm central US time (GMT-6)

I assume not being able to tune tv when I got in last night was caused by the same thing. Windows 10 computer. THings had been good for 2-3 days before. When I got in lsat night nothing would tune in Kodi. Just said working the whole time. I restarted npvr and ceton services. Now in npvr and kodi I was getting tuner unavailable. REboot of machine fixed it.

Firewall is off. STatic ip being used.

I've had trouble with MediaPOrtal int he past but I have to have something that is reliable. I have a Silicon Dust HDHomeRun Prime showing up here tomorrow. I've heard that they are *much* more reliable than the Ceton cards.

I can see where the calls to the device were all failing, like the device wasn't there any more. No solid clues why. I suspect the problem happened on the device side of things - like it's hung, particularly if restarting NextPVR made no difference.

I just thought of something that might be causing it. I remember when I first got the ceton card it would run hot. I installed a twin fan card next to it and that kept it from running hot. back then it seemed like when it ran hot it would behave erraticly. I recently worked on that box and pulled that fan card out. The ceton card could be running hot. I'll reinstall the fan card and see what happens.

I stil think a pair of SD hd homerun primes >> ceton 4 pcie. Is that what you have heard as well?

I have also read thread about the Cetons running hot and being unreliable. The HDHR sound a lot more reliable.

My HDHR Prime has been essentially 100% reliable for going on 1 year. I can remember only one failed recording (no data delivered) but cannot clearly blame it on the Prime as it could have been a cableco issue. There were no missed recordings in 2 3-week long periods of unattended running. I record perhaps 10-12 programs/week on average. My system includes a switched digital video tuning adapter as well, adding to the complexity.
