Since first starting with NextPVR I have "tested" different things with a laptop. When it worked I would then set it up in the desktop. Well today I had an "odd" message pop up when starting the recording service on the laptop. Any ideas on what is wrong?

Maybe check your HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NPVR Recording Service\ImagePath registry setting is pointing to the correct place for NRecord.exe.

Unfortunately the registry shows: "C:\program files (x86)\NPVR\NRecord.exe" and that is where it is.

Is there a C:\users\public\npvr\logs\nrecord.log with any error messages?

Or any errors in Window Event Viewer?

There is no obvious error there, other than the one saying it can't connect to the recording service (but we already know it's not running).

Maybe try starting a command prompt with 'Run As Administrator', then try running "nrecord.exe RUN", to see if it starts there, or gives more useful error message.

I ran nrecord.exe in cmd and it was interesting. It displayed several lines of information and stopped without going back to the command prompt. I minimized the command window and run Next. Went to live TV and the channel played. Closed Next and the cmd window and ran Next again. Live would not display.
Still can not get record service to start and run as it should.

Try running Services.msc and look at the properties of "NPVR Recording service", is it disabled?

YES, it was listed as disabled. I set it to manual and used the "start service" in the list of programs and then started Next and live TV displayed. Went back to services and set it to automatic, shut down the laptop, restarted and ran Next and live played just like it should.
I have no idea on how/why it was disabled in services, but it works once again.
