I'm running NextPVR 3.6.6 and Kodi 15.1. I recently had an issue where one channel wouldn't play back and I had to completely uninstall and reinstall NextPVR. Before that the guide in Kodi showed an * on programs that were not new, this data was created by using the -b option with mc2xml. The script for the guide data hasn't changed but I can no longer get Kodi to show the * on repeat episodes of programs. I've checked everything I can think of. Anyone have any ideas? NextPVR knows the shows are repeats because it won't record them if I have it set to only record new episodes.

Are these * characters showing if you open your xmltv file? If it's not there, then it's not going to be in NextPVR or Kodi either.

Yes, that's the first thing I checked. And before I had to reinstall and reconfigure NextPVR they showed up in Kodi as well. Nothing has changed with Kodi, same version as before and I didn't even touch any of it's settings when I reinstalled NextPVR. I don't know if it's something with the NextPVR add-in or with Kodi but since it was working before I reinstalled NextPVR then I figured it must be something with that.

The NextPVR addon definitely isn't removing these characters.

Are you seeing them in NextPVR's own TV Guide screen?

No, but I have the check box to highlight NEW items in the program grid checked under MISC2. The one thing I did change when I reconfigured NextPVR was I reordered the Channels to place the ones I watch the most at the top. The guide information is correct, it just doesn't show me which items are new unless I have the box under MISC2 selected.

You must have been adding this * to the title/subtitle/description. The highlight new items checkbox on Misc2 is unrelated to this.

If you want to zip and attach your xmltv file, I'll check where you're adding this * to, and whether it's showing in NextPVR.

According to http://mc2xml.awardspace.info/, the '-b' option is supposed to add the " *" to the titles in the generated xmltv file. I'm guessing that for some reason, in your new installation, mc2xml is no longer doing that.

Did you have to make a donation and use a new version of mc2xml due to Microsoft's changes in guide provider? If you are in an area serviced by Schedules Direct, I think that you will find it has better data and integrates more easily and better with NextPVR (things like the "New Episode" indicator, series & episode numbering, etc. will work properly).

I am using Schedules direct. I updated to the latest mc2xml yesterday and upon first run checked the box to have it add -a and changed my update script to remove the -b. My XML file is attached.

I just tried your xmltv file, and I'm seeing the * fine in NextPVR on the half dozen or shows I checked (that have * in your xmltv file).

There is no code that'll strip this character. ie, if it's in your EPG source as part of the title, then it'll also be imported in NextPVR.
