Hi,
I've tried searching for this, and I have not come up with anything. I'm running latest NextPVR with one internal WinTV and one HD homerun connect.
I'm using xmltv for guide info. For the most part, most channels are showing up OK in the guide. Only my source for the xmltv does list my local FOX
channels, so I need to grab it from the neighboring city. I pulled the neighboring city xmltv file, but when I go to mapping I'm still only seeing my local FOX.
Is there any way I can pull that info from the neighboring xmltv file for my channel?
thanks

Apologies if I have misunderstood ...

I have some channels set to XMLTV reading from one xml file and other channels set to XMLTV reading from a second xml file in Settings --> Channels --> Details

You should be able to use two different xml files.

Well yes, but my problem is when I'm reading from the second XMLTV file, the channel I'm actually looking for doesnt have the same code as the actual channel I scanned over the air. so im not finding it. my original xml file doesnt have the channel i'm trying to get the info for...
thanks for the reply

The Channel Details dialog shows the Channel as it is named in the scan of the tuner at the top near "General". The channel name at the bottom of the dialog, where it says "Mapping" is from the xml file. You should be able to select any channel from the drop-down list at "Mapping".

Thanks for the reply. Yes I can select any channel from the drop down box. Only problem is the channel I'm using the EPG data from is from another area and not actually scanned. it has a different name than any channel in my list. But it is the same affiliate, so programming is the same. My local affiliate doesn't have any EPG data listed....
thanks

When it comes to xmltv, this isn't a problem, just select whatever .xml filename, and whatever channel name from that xmltv file. It doesn't matter what it's name is. ie, you could map 'FOX' to xmltv channel 'XYZ'.

Note: Most of us here in the USA have found that Schedules Direct is well worth the $25 annual fee. Support for it is automatically included in NextPVR, and its support team is excellent at resolving any issues such as a local channel not being included in a line-up. Plus, it has probably the best quality of data including unique episode IDs (to prevent rerecording of shows), new show indicators, season and episode numbers, etc. I would strongly encourage you to consider using SD rather than trying to mess around with trying to get a system with multiple xmltv files working.

All that being said, I will try to offer some assistance with the setup you are describing. What are you using to generate the xmltv files that you are trying to use (and what is its source)? NextPVR doesn't have any mechanism built-in to generate xmltv files, so you have to use some other tool to do that. Typically, you would have created a PreEPGUpdate.bat file and included command(s) in there to generate the xmltv file for that day. In your case, you would need something to generate 2 xmltv files (obviously with different file names). And in NextPVR you would have configured most of your channels to use 1 of the xmltv files with its associated channel listings, but then you would have configured your missing FOX channel to use the 2nd xmltv file and have associated its "FOX channel" with your "FOX channel" in NextPVR. Then each night when NextPVR does its EPG update, your batch file will first be called to generate the 2 new xmltv files, and then NextPVR will pull in the appropriate listings from each of the files for each of your mapped channels.

I'm using zap2xml...Since my local FOX affiliate isnt listed, I'm using the nearest city which is San Antonio..but its KABB, so yes i'm pulling that from the other xml file...thanks for the info on Schedules Direct. I did consider them, but as I have 4 tuners installed, 1 NTSC, 3 ATSC. My 3 ATSC are getting OTA channels. The NTSC is set up on analog cable from a small mexican cable company. I tried the demo on schedules direct, it was horribly wrong on almost every channel. So I ended up pulling from different sources for that and the SD account maxxed out at 4 SD locations. Being on the border, I'm getting part of my TV from USA and part from mexico. I guess it makes setup a little more complicated. But thanks for all the help.

The JSON service (which is what NextPVR uses) has a soft-limit of 4 lineups, so if you actually needed additional lineups it wouldn't have been that difficult to allow for more than 4.

Did you open a ticket with us about your lineup issues? Please let me know the ticket number and I can see what happened.

Apologies for hijacking the thread but did you give up on lineups for Norway?
