Current status of NextPVR and Netflix?

Reading between the lines, i.e. forum posts, it seems "not possible"?
We have finally got Netflix here (yes I could have used a VPN before) and I was excited to try and integrate it with NextPVR.

Seems not to be?

netflix closed the api that dhgb256 was using for his netflix viewer program, and whurlston never released anything for his 2nd (or 3rd?) attempt at a netflix plugin. so no, as far as I know there's no good way to use netflix with nextpvr. I just use the netflix client on my samsung f-model bluray player.

I've complimented my setup with PlayOn which can stream (or record, or cast,...) Netflix as well as a number of other services (i.e. Amazon, Hulu,...). Works great, and allows me to record Network streamed shows for viewing remotely on my tablet or laptop (such as airline flights, etc), when I don't have the internet available. I can also use one interface (Kodi) for Live TV, recorded shows, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc... and not have to jump between clients and inputs on my TV.

Setup is as follows:

• NextPVR - For personal recordings. Consists of: HVR2250 for Analog recording from STB, SiliconDust HDHR for additional 3 tuners for copy free channels. Leverages Schedules Direct for EPG data.
  
• PlayOn - To consolidate 3rd party streaming services, so I can watch from within one client. (Runs on my NextPVR machine)
  
• Kodi - As the client that brings it all together. One common interface for a fully functional home media experience. I've leveraged the MySQL database option option so that all Kodi clients (4 of them running OpenElec on RaspPi's and Amazon FireStick), see the same guide, artwork and show watched status/resume points. You can set any PlayOn service as a datasource (i.e. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, FOX, CBS, ...)
  

I'm getting close to cutting the cord, or at least significantly downsizing my cable bill with little sacrifice to my viewing habits.

Note: I used FireStarter to get Kodi loaded on the Amazon FireStick (root not required).

I have a Panasonic Veira TC32LX700 which is essentially a dumb TV and I was looking at Chromecast to do this, which looks like a quick and dirty solution, iPAD=>Chromecast=>TV.

However this has me very interested as it is integrated with NextPVR. I still have my trusty NMT, and I don;t think my ADSL internet connection is much chop so SD beckons if I can get NETFLIX working.

I am not that keen on the learning curve for Kodi right now, so is the 3rd item a must for Netflix to Work? Martin's note suggests that provided you have the Universe Plugin (just installed, cannot see what it does yet), you can run Netflix (even without PlayOn) - I need out find out how to make the connection between them...

In my setup, PlayOn is required, as it allows me to stream Netflix on my lan, so it just looks like another source to Kodi. I have not used the Universal Plugin, so I cannot comment on how it may work....

How do you add this plugin to NPVR? When I go to settings > Plugins> Download More I get a 404 error.

I must remember to remove this button. It was only experiment I was doing. It was never finished.

There is probably info in the wiki about downloading and installing this plugin.
