My area was lucky enough to receive 2 new OTA channels in the past few weeks. The process I took to scan for these channels resulted in all my season recording to now work any longer (consider this a feature request?). THe process I took was to delete my tuners from the list, rescan with one tuner to find all the channels, including the 2 new ones, then apply the EPG data back to the channels. Having done this left me with all my season recordings with ?? as the channel and no obvious way to edit it.

1. How should I go about adding/scanning for new channels in the future.

2. Can you please add a feature to change the recording channel in case this were to happen in the future. It would be nice to be able to change it's channel Smile

You didn't need to delete your device, or any existing channels. Normally you'd just go in and hit the 'scan' button again. Any existing channels will be shown grey'd out in the scan results. Any new channels will be shown in black, and ticked ready for adding.

I'll try to add this in a future build.

1. You should just do a scan on your first tuner without deleting anything first, and select only the new channel(s) from the scan results; this will add the new channels while preserving the internal channel_oid's of the existing channels, thus protecting your existing recordings and EPG mappings. To get the new channel(s) added to the remaining tuners, you can go several ways: repeat the scan process on the remaining tuners, or delete all the channels from each tuner (ctrl-a to select all) and then let nextpvr copy over the channels, or (while I've not done this myself) delete the remaining tuners themselves and then let nextpvr re-discover them and copy over the channels. (that last option will work, but I'm not sure it's a good idea... far better in my view to just delete the channels themselves).

In any case the key is to not completely delete the existing channels; as you've discovered, if you do and then scan them all back in from scratch, they become different channels to nextpvr. Careful consideration of this rule has allowed me to move from OTA-only to QAM & OTA to QAM-only and back to OTA-only without ever having my channel_oid's change.

2. Only sub is to say whether such a feature is to be implemented, but I'll agree that I've encountered other scenarios where it would have been handy to be able to change the channel_oid for an existing recurring recording. I edited the database by hand with SQLiteSpy, but that's tedious too and not for everyone.

(if I had a nickel for every time I started a reply, got sidetracked with responding to a customer email, phone call or a kid-related request/crisis, and then finally finished and posted only to find sub had both already answered and said the same exact thing in 75% fewer words.... well, I'd have a neat little pile of nickels sitting here)

Yeah, it would be useful if the Update button in Recurring recordings could change channel since shows sometimes move from one channel to another. Smile

Thanks for the quick replies. I hope you are able to add that feature in there Sub, and glad I'm not the only one who would find this useful Smile
