Hi Sub
I'm having frustrating issues with audio/video gradually losing sync on HDMI in with the new rocket, even using the hauppauge capture software (apparent card issue, not npvr)

So sadly I'm probably going to have to go back to component inputs, but the level on the rocket is very low, even using the latest firmware and having 'boost analog audio' selected in the config. Its also low in HDMI, but the analogue audio is super low compared to my DVB-T tuners.

So my question is, when npvr starts the rocket, can you ask the driver for a higher volume? I know that unlike the HD PVR there's no advanced settings available for the rocket in npvr. Given the small number of users that would have a Rocket I totally understand that this would be a low priority for you, but just wondering if the Rocket's volume can be set when starting it? Otherwise I'll have to dig up one my old designs for a low noise line level booster.

Cheers Smile

In the <HDPVR> section of config.xml, add a <CrimsonGameLevelComponent> setting. Valid values it can contain are:
-12db
-9db
-6db
-3db
+3db
+6db

Thanks Sub, that worked well (0db also seems valid)

Should the overall bit rate be still governed by values in config.xml? The log seems to show a 9k rate request where 3.5-7k is the xml setting.
Wondering if this is because I don't think the Rocket can do a variable bit rate?

With the rocket, it should be setting the bitarte from /Settings/HDPVR/Mode1080i/Bitrate in config.xml (regardless of resolution).

The rocket encoder only does constant bitrate encoding.

I am not sure what the above means, but I currently record from my Cable Box => into my PC using a Colossus PCI Card (via HDMI out of my Cable Box)
If I bought a Rocket, which I am looking at as a long term setup, to attach external devices to a small NUC or Brix, will it do the same as the Colossus PCI Card currently does i.e. would I see any reduction in quality? I am not sure whether the Colossus PCI Card has VBR? Does it make any difference?

Yes, it does generally the same thing, but from an external box. There is probably not much difference in quality between the two. I can't remember off hand whether the Colossus PCI does VBR or not. VBR can can give you smaller recordings.

Sorry to hop on board this older topic but I have the same question when it comes to using the Hauppauge 1212 & 1512.
I'm also looking to raise the volume 3-6db..

My Congig.xml file has these 3 entries:
<CrimsonGameLevelComponent>-6db</CrimsonGameLevelComponent>
<CrimsonGameLevelHDMI>0db</CrimsonGameLevelHDMI>
<CrimsonMaxAudio>31</CrimsonMaxAudio>

Are those the ones I should be editing for louder sound? I use spdif on the 1212 & HDMI audio for the 1512..
Thanks

Sorry these Crimson settings are only related to the Hauppauge rocket, and don't make any difference to the audio levels on the HDPVR (1212) / HDPVR2 (1512) devices. For these devices there is no way for the application to control the volume of audio captured from digital audio input (other increasing the volume in the source being delivered to the device).
