My mother board only has 2 PCIe slots ---- a single PCIe x16 Gen 2.0 slot (usually used for graphics cards ---- I do not, as I use the on-board graphics the few times I hook a monitor up --- the Box is solely used for streaming, therefore, have no need to hook a monitor up)
And the motherboard has a single PCIe X1 slot.
Now, I have 2 identical Avermedia M791-B's (both PCIe x1) and they both function fine --- however, I use both the slots for my cards --- both the PCIe x16 and the PCIe x1. However, no matter which card I put in that PCIe x16 slot, the output is broken, pixelated, ext ext.
Shouldn't a PCIe x1 card work in all the various PCIe configurations ? PCIe x1, 4, 8 and 16 ?
Is there a setting in the BIOS I have incorrect (irq (interrupt) off, perhaps) ? Is the on-board graphics perhaps interfering with the PCIe x16 (graphics) slot ? I do not see an option of shutting off the on-board video....I DO see a setting in which it prioritizes a given graphics option at startup, but no way to shut off the on-board video output.
So, what might be wrong here ?
