I am a new user and could not find information about my problem, I'm hoping someone in the community can help with what I hope is an easy question.

I am used to seeing my channels listed on our TV such as 11.1 KARE-NBC-HD, 5.1 KMSP-HD, etc., with our local stations in their usual low numbers. On NPVR, however, our local NBC channel is loaded as channel #376.

Then when I look at the TV Guide setting, several channels are populated, but there are several "unknown" channels without data, several of the more obscure channels that DO have data (such as local weather), but the vast majority of even the common channels (local network, Disney, HGTV, VH1, etc.) do not have program listings.

Is there an easy way to calibrate my channels back to what I'm used to (such as 11.1, 5.1, etc.)? And did I maybe miss a programming step to get program listings? (I used "mc2xml.exe" to populate the program listings).

Thanks for any new-start advice you can provide!

Where are you channels coming from? ATSC from an antenna, QAM from digital cable?

Since you mention HGTV etc, I'm assuming digital cable. Generally the major.minor numbers like "5.1" are only used on ATSC from antenna. I've not seen a digital cable system in the US that used major.minor numbers. You can set your channels to these numbers though, by going to the Settings->Channels screen, right click the channel and select 'Details'. Then edit the channel number from 376 to 5.1 (ie 5 in first box, 1 in the second box).

Regarding channels with missing listings, have you mapped your channels to channels in your xmltv file? and do you actually have listings in your xmltv file for that channel? I'm sure it'll be one of those two causing you to be getting no listings on those channel.

Regarding 'unknown' channels - unfortunately they're not required to transmit channel names and channel numbers on US digital cable systems, so unfortunately they often don't include this info. There is nothing magic NextPVR can do about this - if the names are not available in the broadcast, then it'll be up to you to identify the channel and give it a good name/number etc. ie, watch the channel until you can determine what it is, then right click and select 'set channel epg source', and it'll show a window where you can set the name/number/epg for this channel.
