Hello,

Small question... How can EventGhost be used to control NextPVR? From the wiki, I found an example where GBPVR is controlled via EventGhost using hotkeys and window identification.
http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Tips/EventGhost

Given that there is a web interface, I suspect there is some alternative way via json or so. I found this thread:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...eb-Console
And particularly this post:
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...post466770
Quote:There are already several API's available via sub's web server and NEWA.
Where can I find documentation on those?

Thanks!

NextPVR can be driven from the keyboard using the keystrokes in keymappings.xml (in the NextPVR Data folder). You may be able to get a result by using EventGhost to send keystrokes.

I control NPVR through Event Ghost with a Harmony 650 remote and a USB-UIRT IR transmitter/receiver. It is a fairly straight forward process of having EventGost create a keystroke event (for NPVR) when a specific IR signal is received. EvenGhost is not that hard to get started with (much easier than another alternative, Girder) - here is brief intro that walks through the basics:

Thanks. :-)
I know EventGhost (I extended the Marantz Serial module), but perhaps worded my question not ideally. Hotkeys are ok, but only work one way. I was wondering if there is a network api (json calls or so) that can be used to control NextPVR (this could provide more functionality and return info from NextPVR to EventGhost. The post I quoted seems to hint at something like that, but I don't know how to look for it.

No there isn't. The webserver is in the recording server (nrecord.exe). It can't control any front ends connected to it (nextpvr.exe).

The webserver does contain APIs for doing stuff like getting channel lists, scheduling recordings, etc. This is unrelated to the user interface though.

also the post you linked is for software that is long abandoned. that nextpvr web console is not part of nextpvr; if you want to do anything with the web interface, look at NEWA which is the webserver sub referred to.
server: NextPVR 5.0.7/Win10 2004/64-bit/AMD A6-7400k/hvr-2250 & hvr-1250/Winegard Flatwave antenna/Schedules Direct
main client: NextPVR 5.0.7 Desktop Client; LG 50UH5500 WebOS 3.0 TV

Thanks!
Front end via hotkeys should be enough anyway (just wanted to play around with it a bit more, to do things I'd most likely never use Wink )

I know Kodi allows it, but somehow I'm not a big fan of Kodi (can't explain why; it works ok, but feels a bit... bloated perhaps... not sure how to describe how I feel... each his own) and use NextPVR frontend... Smile

At one time you prosposed the possibility of extending web client navigation to the NextPVR backend client to allow http navigation.

Yeah, I remember. I never got around to it. It'd be nice to have, but there my energy has been spent on things I feel would benefit more people.

Please do it - openhab sends PIP command to frontend, webcam onscreen just like XBMC, its very cool. But we spend most of the time in the nextPvr.
